Lan Khue won the gold prize of Vietnam Supermodel

The female model's victory was not a surprise at the final ranking night. This year, the organizers did not award the gold prize to a male contestant.

The final ranking night of Vietnam Supermodel 2013 will take place at 9:15 p.m. on October 20 at Phan Dinh Phung Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City.

After 5 performances, Tran Ngoc Lan Khue surpassed 24 male and female contestants of this year's season to win the highest title. With the Vietnam Supermodel Gold Cup, Lan Khue received a prize of 200 million VND (of which 170 million VND was in cash, the rest was gifts).

Two other silver prizes were awarded to female models: Phan Ha Phuong and Nguyen Minh Tu - both are familiar faces in the domestic fashion industry.

Third prize - bronze cup - was awarded to Vo Ngoc Canh, To Uyen Khanh Ngoc and Pham Thi Thu Thuy. Vo Canh is a familiar name in some major fashion shows in the country. Many people predicted that he would make a name for himself at Vietnam Supermodel. However, the result was not as expected.

This year’s Vietnam Supermodel contest was rather dull, not attracting attention like every year. On the afternoon of October 18, at the press conference announcing the final night, the organizers said that the surprises and excitement of the contest would take place on the night of October 20. However, in reality, what happened on stage was neither surprising nor new.

The stage for the final night was designed quite simply with a stylized T-shaped catwalk for the models to easily participate in the 5 performance rounds. The highlight of the performance rounds was the presentation of the applied and impressive collections of designer Cong Tri. These two rounds showed that the organizers had invested in ideas and stage design. The sportswear performance was chaotic, the contestants performed spontaneously, and the stage layout was confusing. Although all 25 contestants had practiced beforehand, during the competition night, many female contestants almost fell because they could not control the catwalk.

Taking on the role of connecting and leading the final night were two familiar faces in beauty contests: Runner-up Hoang My and MC Anh Quan. The two MCs stumbled many times even though they had the script in hand to read. Hoang My's voice and presentation style were too stiff, lacking charm. Hoang My's diction and intonation were also considered a "disaster" because she not only stumbled but also read the script haltingly, without any emotion.

The final night also featured many singers: Dam Vinh Hung, Duong Trieu Vu, Ha Okio, folk singer Phuong My Chi... Performances were performed to lead into the contestants' competition.
