Bustling shipbuilding village on the last day of the year

(Baonghean.vn) - In order for the ships to go out to sea to catch seafood during the New Year of the Rooster, many shipbuilding facilities in Quynh Luu district are currently focusing on human resources and machinery to work overtime to keep up with the schedule.

Quynh Luu district has about 18 shipbuilding and ship repair facilities, including 10 large shipbuilding facilities in Quynh Nghia, Quynh Tho, Tien Thuy and An Hoa. On average, each facility builds 7-10 new ships/year.

Mr. Nguyen Van Xang - Owner of Tien Xang Shipbuilding Facility (Quynh Tho Commune) said, we are currently urgently completing 5 ships, of which 3 are built according to Decree 67. To soon hand over to fishermen for exploitation at the beginning of the new year, we are mobilizing 35 workers to work overtime.

Established in late 2014 and officially put into operation in 2015, Tien Xang Shipbuilding has built many large, modern ships. At the Ngo Thuy shipbuilding facility in Quynh Nghia commune, workers are also actively completing their work. Since the beginning of the year, the facility has built 5 offshore ships, each with a capacity of over 400 CV, worth 800 million VND/ship. Currently, the facility is continuing to build 2 ships with a capacity of over 400 CV) and will be completed before Tet.

Although the work is being carried out urgently, ensuring the safety of the ship is still the top priority of the facilities. A solid and safe ship must ensure two factors: beautiful design, sturdiness and good wood materials: sen, tau, petrol le, kien kien.

The hull assembly stage requires high technical skills and experience from workers.

To prevent water from leaking into the boat's hold, the crew used wood chips mixed with chemicals to tighten the gaps.

In 2016, the entire Quynh Luu district built 44 new ships with a capacity of 400 CV or more, of which 22 ND 67 ships were completed and went offshore to exploit seafood, bringing the total number of ships in the district to 1,279.
