Quietly spreading the fragrance of life
(Baonghean) -Having the determination to pursue your dreams means you are living responsibly and honestly with yourself and with those who love you. That is also the message that the program “Shining Vietnamese determination” brings. The program is eagerly awaited by young people across the country.
On the evening of December 9, 2013, the Hall of Vinh University was filled with emotion, admiration and respect. That was when the clip about the difficult circumstances of the young man Nguyen Van Vong was shown on the screen, when the host led him onto the stage in a wheelchair to interact with the audience. Then, one by one, the examples of village teacher Le Huu Hung, who was paralyzed since childhood, rose to become a talented student of the Faculty of Information Technology - Hong Duc University and now a teacher at a village school in Dong Son - Thanh Hoa; the armless girl Le Thi Tham, Hung's student, who wrote with her feet in neat handwriting: "Live honestly - Live responsibly - Live with determination" were introduced.

Since childhood, Nguyen Van Vong had to be friends with a wheelchair because of paralysis of the whole body. His mother was the one who accompanied Vong from meals to sleep to daily activities. There was a time when both mother and Vong had surrendered to fate: Vong was just a disabled person who could not nurture any great ambitions. However, before the hardships and worries of his mother, before the doors that were opening out there in life, Vong allowed himself to "fly" in his own world with a dream of becoming an IT engineer. Vong shared: "My motivation is my mother", the whole Vinh University auditorium that day was silent, many young people shed tears. His mother accompanied Vong and because she only had one wish, that her son could support himself, when she passed away. And Vong made his dream come true with the extraordinary determination of a young man who could only move his two hands.
Teacher Le Huu Hung, the second character chosen in the exchange night, had been paralyzed in both legs since childhood, he could not go to school like many of his friends. Every day, he wandered around to learn letters from his classmates in the village school. Then, before Hung's eagerness to learn, a village teacher admired him and volunteered to teach him letters at home. 2 years and 7 grades is Hung's miraculous academic achievement. In the first 9 months, Hung was tutored by the teacher to study from grade 2 to grade 5. After that, he studied on his own to study to grade 9. With the tutoring of the teacher and his own efforts, after 2 years, Hung took the entrance exam to Lam Son Specialized School (Thanh Hoa) and passed the exam with the highest score, to the surprise and admiration of his family and neighbors. Next, Hung passed the entrance exam to the IT department of Hong Duc University. Hung shared in the exchange night: "There is one thing I want to say, you should live for the people who love you!"
And Le Thi Tham has once again proven the strength of the program through her efforts and will when she studied well in all subjects, and achieved the title of having clean and beautiful handwriting nationwide, holding the pen with only her toes. Tham's motivation is her teacher, Mr. Le Huu Hung. She said: "First of all, I study well because I want to fulfill my dream, and fulfilling my dream means I can live a useful life in this life!"
MC Quyen Linh asked a young person in the audience: "What was your dream and did you make it come true?". The young person was moved: "I regret that I did not make my dream come true". "So why did you cry when sharing that?" "Because I am ashamed of the examples of perseverance and overcoming difficulties of Vong, Hung and Tham". Another person said: "I did not have enough courage to make my dream come true and now I feel so cowardly!". No matter who we are, we all have the right to dream and have the right to make our dreams come true. Living with a dream means you are living responsibly, living with courage and being honest with yourself. And what the program wants to spread is that we are honest when we dare to say: "I did not have enough courage to make my dream come true".
Standing Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union - Tran Van Mai interacted with the young people, he frankly said: "I am only 70% honest", the forum was really heated, many hands were raised, many things wanted to be shared, many feelings wanted to be relieved, just in that night, in that moment, the moment of miracle to say "I was not honest". And just in a moment, the young people may have some changes in their thinking, in their lifestyle and even more drastic actions for the happiness of themselves and those who love them. Those are the determinations that continue to be written in each of us, those who are watching Tham's feet skillfully write each stroke, watching the smile always on Vong's lips when he said: "Many times, I have thought of a girl, a warm family".
And I was extremely impressed when I heard Hung share his simple dreams of helping disabled children continue their dreams, even though he had to give up an attractive invitation at a job to open a free class for poor disabled children in his hometown Dong Son village. They were the ones who breathed into those who had to endure adversity that: We must know how to dream and must act to the end to achieve our dreams. And they were also the ones who breathed into us changes in our perceptions and new ways of thinking about life that: "Somewhere there are still fairy tales and the people who wrote those magical stories are the ones who dared to fight with themselves for a dream".
That night, many tears were shed, many regrets, remorse and even shame deep in the hearts of each young person were expressed and shared. The message that the program brought spread strongly, when tears fell in harmony with the soulful melody of the song "Living like flowers" by musician Ta Quang Thang: "And I live like flowers/ quietly spreading fragrance to life...".
