Ms. Kim - who is both the owner of the facility and the person responsible for the technical process of making fish sauce, said: Born and raised in Nghi Hai sea area, since childhood, she has loved the salty taste of the sea from the sweat of her mother and father. From the time of her grandparents to her parents, they were all fishermen who stuck to the sea all year round. She still remembers clearly her father's trips out to sea, bringing with them the anticipation of the whole family: because from the fish and shrimp that her father caught, they would become fish sauce products made by her mother's hard-working hands. And also from the unforgettable salty and fragrant taste of that fish sauce, it became clothes and books for her siblings to go to school, nurturing their dreams and ambitions. And she became an employee of Cua Hoi Seafood Enterprise after graduating from high school. After a while, Ms. Kim decided to return home and open a fish sauce production facility at home. In 1995, she started production. In 2003, her facility expanded its scale, announced product quality, and registered a trademark to affirm the Vo Kim fish sauce brand.

Currently, Ms. Kim's facility specializes in producing special, premium fish sauce, grade 1 and grade 2, in addition, the facility also produces shrimp paste and sour fish sauce. It is known that each year the facility buys from 100 - 180 tons of various types of fish. After about 12 - 15 months of salting, the product will be produced. Currently, Vo Kim's products are wholesaled and retailed at home to regular customers in and outside the province such as Hanoi, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh... With 6 regular employees with an average income of 2.5 million VND/person/month, Vo Kim's total annual revenue reaches over 1.2 billion VND/year.

In addition to Vo Kim facility, Hai Giang 1 fish sauce craft village currently has 75 households engaged in fish sauce production and processing. If in 2008 the whole block produced 324.8 thousand liters of fish sauce, in 2010 it produced 473.4 thousand liters. It is expected to reach 516 thousand liters of fish sauce in 2011. In 2010, the average income from the profession reached 26,600 thousand VND/person/year. People's lives are increasingly improved. Electricity for lighting, rural roads, drainage ditches, facilities for cultural - artistic - sports activities are invested and upgraded. It is the first block of Cua Lo Town to be recognized as a provincial-level Cultural Village in 1998.

To maintain, promote and affirm the brand of Hai Giang 1 fish sauce products, in the coming time, the craft village really needs more attention and direction from Cua Lo Town, in order to build the brand of the craft village. And importantly, people really need financial support, creating favorable conditions for loans for people to expand production scale; receive training to improve qualifications, organize study tours, exchange experiences in fish sauce production between craft villages in and outside the province.
