Let's review the outstanding domestic music activities that took place last year.

Many creative campaigns are organized.

2015 can be said to be a vibrant year for the activities of the country's music industry. 2015 is not only a milestone marking important anniversaries and major events of the country, but also the anniversary of the establishment of many industries, so a series of creative campaigns were organized with the participation of many musicians from all over the country.

The most prominent of these are the three major composition campaigns: the song composition campaign to welcome the 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly IPU taking place in February, the composition campaign "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh" - towards the 125th anniversary of his birth taking place in May, and finally the composition campaign to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the first general election to elect the Vietnamese National Assembly taking place in November.

The number of works submitted to the campaigns often stands at the threshold of 100, which shows that the interest of musicians in particular and the music world in general for historical and current events of the country is very large. Through the above creative campaigns, we can clearly see one thing, that no matter what period, music always accompanies the breath of the country.

Music festivals to celebrate diplomatic anniversaries between Vietnam and other countries

2015 also marks the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and many countries. Highlights include the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the European Union (EU) and Vietnam and the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States. Along with the activities to celebrate these important anniversaries, it is certainly impossible not to mention major music festivals, with the participation of Vietnamese and foreign artists.

In mid-August, for 4 consecutive days in the capital Hanoi, the most talented and brightest classical artists of Vietnam and the US participated in the 2015 Vietnam - US Music Festival. The 4 nights of performances were 4 styles of different classical music periods, along with seminars and musical exchanges conducted by artists from both countries.

Then in November, Vietnamese audiences had the opportunity to continue to welcome artists from Europe with 19 free performances in the European Music Festival 2015. Opening on November 18 and ending on November 29 in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, more than 50 artists from European countries with developed music industries such as Germany, Austria, France, Poland, Hungary... truly made the Vietnamese audience enjoy music in the true sense. With 19 performances, the festival brought rich musical experiences from classical to jazz, from traditional to contemporary music and most especially the concerts of vibrant rock music and ancient folk melodies.

Music festivals like this give Vietnamese audiences the opportunity to better understand classical music as well as many other music genres around the world, while also opening up opportunities for exchange between Vietnamese and international artists.

Classical music comes closer to the public

It would be remiss not to mention the classical concerts of the past year. If we count roughly, there were at least more than 100 programs held across the country. If in the past the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra only performed at important concerts, starting from 2014, the monthly Subscription concert series was born and has become more familiar to many audiences.

In addition, there are countless concerts introducing young talents and prestigious conductors in the world. Famous and easy-to-listen classical works are also selected for more performances. And most notably, there have been many projects and programs aimed at "bridging the gap between Vietnamese audiences and academic music". Artists have "left" luxurious auditoriums to bring classical music to everyone.

The most notable are the Luala Street Concerts with 5 consecutive weeks of performances on the streets of Hanoi and the appearance of the Maius Philharmonic Youth Orchestra in the Monsoon International Music Festival. With such approaches, it is certain that the audience will have a more friendly view and will understand classical music better. We can completely expect that in the future, the empty seats in concert halls will be filled.

Many famous artists come to Vietnam to perform

In the field of youth entertainment music activities in recent years, it is undeniable that the organizers have made great efforts in inviting many famous international artists such as Peabo Pryson, Kenny G, Demi Lovato, Joss Stone, the BOND quartet, Rita Ora... and most recently, the "king of trance music" Armin van Buren. The appearance of these stars has attracted millions of young people to the performances.

The live shows and music festivals with the participation of the above names are all organized professionally and on a large scale with international standards, and are highly appreciated by the media in all aspects. Besides introducing new music trends to Vietnamese audiences, these activities also help the public gradually get acquainted with the new forms of organization of festivals that are popular in the world.

Coming to the shows, young people not only immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of a true music party, but also help them form beautiful actions and civilized behavior in the community. Music festivals of regional and international stature have been and are contributing to promoting the development of Vietnam's musical life, thereby creating a buzz and becoming a place to attract more world artists./.
