On the morning of March 23, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened an appeal trial of the criminal case against defendant Dang Hoai Nam (born in 1971, residing in Hong Son 1 hamlet, Kim Lien commune, Nam Dan district) for the act of "Raping children".

According to the indictment, at about 4:00 p.m. on November 7, 2006, Tran Thi Q. (born in 1992, living in the same locality as Nam) went to Nam's kiosk to sell golden apple snails. Q. brought the snails behind the well and met Dang Hoai Nam sitting there cracking snails to feed the geese.

Seeing Q., Nam's animal instincts arose. He stood up, hugged Q., pushed her against the kitchen wall, then covered her mouth and forced her to have sex. After satisfying his animal instincts, Nam told Q. to go home and told her not to tell her mother.

A day later, Q. told her family about the incident. Outraged by the depraved behavior, the victim's mother filed a report with the authorities.

As for Dang Hoai Nam, after committing the crime, he fled the area. On September 30, 2014, he was arrested under a wanted warrant.

In the first instance trial, Dang Hoai Nam was sentenced to 8 years and 6 months in prison for “child rape”. The defendant appealed, believing that the sentence was too harsh. At the appeal trial, Nam insisted that his actions were voluntary and not forced as stated in the indictment, and asked for a lighter sentence. However, when the panel of judges presented evidence, Nam bowed his head and admitted his guilt. At the time of the incident, Q was only 14 years, 8 months and 6 days old.

After reviewing the details of the case, the panel upheld the sentence of 8 years and 6 months in prison for Dang Hoai Nam.
