On the morning of May 19, commemorating the 132nd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2022), the Steering Committee and the Delegation attending the Workshop: "50 years of the Plain of Jars - Xieng Khouang defense campaign: Victory and lessons learned" came to offer flowers and incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh at the Kim Lien Special National Relic Site (Nam Dan, Nghe An).

Attending the ceremony were comrades of the Party Central Committee: Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh - Member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Head of the Workshop Steering Committee; Thai Thanh Quy - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation, Chairman of the People's Council of Nghe An province, Head of the Workshop Steering Committee; Lieutenant General Nguyen Doan Anh - Member of the Central Military Commission, Commander of Military Region 4.
The delegation representing the Party and State of the Lao PDR includes comrades: Seng Phet Hung Bun Nhuong - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao PDR to Vietnam; No Bi Ha Tong Pao - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Xieng Khouang Provincial Party Committee.

The Vietnam-Laos International Martyrs' Cemetery is the resting place of nearly 11,000 martyrs from 47 provinces and cities across the country, who were Vietnamese volunteers and experts on international missions and sacrificed on the battlefields of Laos. The heroic sacrifice of these martyrs reminds us to always be proud of the glorious past of our nation and the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
On May 20, the Ministry of National Defense coordinated with Nghe An Provincial Party Committee to organize a scientific conference: "50 years of the Plain of Jars - Xieng Khouang defense campaign: Victory and lessons learned".

The workshop aimed to analyze and clarify the following contents: The guidelines, leadership and direction of the Politburo and the Party Central Committee in preparation for the 1972 strategic offensive on the Vietnam battlefield and in coordination with Laos and Cambodia; the leadership role of the Central Military Commission in protecting and maintaining the strategic area, the flexible and creative application of the Plain of Jars - Xieng Khouang Campaign Command.

The workshop will analyze the unique features of Vietnam's military art in preparing and practicing combat operations, the spirit of proactively allying with the Lao revolutionary armed forces, deploying and organizing the Plain of Jars-Xieng Khouang Defense Campaign on the battlefield of the neighboring country; the relationship of combat coordination, combat service and security between the forces; the special solidarity against the common enemy of the people of Vietnam and Laos...

Through the workshop, lessons learned were drawn, affirming and clarifying the correct leadership, direction, and wise strategic vision of the Politburo, the Central Military Commission, the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party; the flexible and creative application of the Plain of Jars Front Command, the Region IV Party Committee, and the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, along with the resilient and courageous fighting spirit of the army and people of Vietnam and Laos.

Thereby, drawing lessons from experience, developing the theory of Vietnamese military art to apply to the cause of building the army; strengthening national defense, building and protecting the Fatherland, contributing to improving the effectiveness of traditional education, training and combat training in academies, schools, agencies and units of the entire army; arousing and fostering the patriotic spirit of the army and people of the whole country.

The workshop also aimed to pay tribute to the great contributions of the army and people of Vietnam and Laos; including the army and people of Nghe An province who heroically sacrificed for the cause of national liberation and protection of the Fatherland in general and in the Plain of Jars - Xieng Khouang Defense Campaign in particular. Thereby, contributing to strengthening the special international solidarity between the two states, armies and people of Vietnam and Laos.
