In the article "Vietnam is one, the Vietnamese people are one", General Secretary To Lam affirmed that the moment the liberation flag flew on the roof of the Independence Palace at noon on April 30, 1975 went down in national history as a momentous event - the day the South was completely liberated, the country was unified, and the country was reunited. It was not only a great victory of the Vietnamese people in the difficult and arduous resistance war against the US to save the country, but also a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism, of the will for independence, self-reliance and the strength of great national unity.

The victory on April 30, 1975 not only marked the end of the longest and most fierce war in modern Vietnamese history, but was also a brilliant milestone in the nation's journey of building and defending the country.

It is the victory of faith, of the desire for independence, freedom and national unification; the victory of the strength of great national unity under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam; the victory of the truth "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom" and of the passionate patriotism, the fighting will, and the eternal indomitability of the Vietnamese people, of progressive forces and peace-loving people in the world.

On the same morning, delegations from the Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense; Central Public Security Party Committee, Ministry of Public Security; Hanoi City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front also came to lay wreaths and visit President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, lay wreaths and commemorate heroic martyrs at the Memorial.
