Quynh Luu district leaders give gifts to "people who help children cross the street"

(Baonghean.vn) -On the occasion of the new school year opening, on the afternoon of September 5, leaders of Quynh Luu district visited and presented gifts to Mr. Ho Van Dieu in hamlet 6, Quynh Van commune, who works as a child-crossing worker.

Quynh Van commune, Quynh Luu district runs along National Highway 1A, has a large population, and people's lives still face many difficulties. The commune has 4 schools located in the area, including 2 primary schools, a secondary school, and Quynh Luu 2 High School. The branch of Quynh Van B primary school is only about 100m from National Highway 1A, and every day more than 300 students have to go through Van market intersection to go to school. Meanwhile, Van market is considered a black spot for traffic safety. Traffic accidents and collisions often occur here and take the lives of many people. From 2001 to 2003, 6 young students were involved in accidents on their way to school.

To ensure the safety of the children and help families avoid confusion and worry about their children's travel, since September 2004, Mr. Ho Van Dieu has volunteered to take on the task of helping children cross the street. Four times a day, morning, noon and afternoon, he is present here and helps the children cross the street safely. Having been involved in this job for nearly 10 years, overcoming all difficult circumstances, he has always completed his tasks excellently, gaining the trust of the authorities, schools and local people. In particular, he was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Transport, the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Police, the District Party Committee, the People's Committee of Quynh Luu District, and Quynh Van Commune for his outstanding achievements in ensuring traffic safety and order.

The new school year has come, to encourage and motivate Mr. Ho Van Dieu to try to complete his tasks well, on this occasion, the leaders of Quynh Luu district gave him and his family a water filter worth 3.5 million VND.
