(Baonghean.vn) - To celebrate the 84th anniversary of the Nghe - Tinh Soviet Day (September 12, 1930 - September 12, 2014), on the morning of September 12, comrades: Ho Duc Phoc - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Tran Hong Chau - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council, Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee, along with comrades in the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, representatives of the provincial armed forces and provincial agencies and departments came to offer flowers and incense to commemorate the heroes and martyrs at Thai Lao Relic Site, Hung Nguyen District.

On this day 84 years ago, September 12, 1930, under the leadership of the Central Region Party Committee, tens of thousands of farmers in Hung Nguyen district and surrounding areas with a seething revolutionary spirit rose up together, protesting and shouting slogans to fight against the French colonialists and their puppet government, demanding the abolition of taxes, reduction of working hours, and the abolition of oppression and exploitation. Before the revolutionary movement could gain momentum, the French colonialists frantically suppressed it, using planes to bomb the protesters, killing 217 people and injuring hundreds of others.

The demonstration and struggle on September 12, 1930 of farmers and workers in Hung Nguyen, Vinh - Truong Thi - Ben Thuy and some neighboring areas is one of the concrete and vivid evidences of the Nghe - Tinh Soviet movement, demonstrating the strength of the great national unity bloc under the wise leadership of the Party.

The September 12th struggle created an important premise for the General Uprising to seize power of our people in August 1945. 84 years have passed but the echoes of the uprising and struggle on September 12th, 1930 forever echo the names and spirit of the 217 martyrs who did not spare their blood and bones for the right to live, the right to pursue independence and freedom of the nation. The sacrifice of the heroic martyrs became a symbol of patriotism and the spirit of self-sacrifice for a great cause of the people of Nghe An.
