Provincial leaders inspect and give gifts to people in flash flood affected areas

(Baonghean) -In order to help people overcome the consequences of the recent flash flood, on June 28, the working delegation of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee led by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong, Standing Committee Member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, together with representatives of departments, branches and sectors had a working session in Que Phong district.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong worked with district leaders and visited families affected by the flood.

According to a quick report from Que Phong district, due to the impact of storm No. 2, Que Phong district had very heavy rain, the water level in rivers and streams rose from 1.2 to 2 meters, causing the isolation of some areas in the communes of Cam Muon, Quang Phong, Tien Phong, Dong Van, Thong Thu, Nam Giai, etc. There were 3 houses washed away, many houses were flooded. About 600 hectares of rice were flooded and buried. Some traffic routes were eroded, many sections of canals and irrigation ditches were washed away. A transformer station was struck by lightning and many electric poles were broken. The estimated damage was more than 18 billion VND.

After listening to a quick report from the People's Committee of Que Phong district on the damage situation as well as measures to overcome the consequences of flash floods, the delegation divided into 3 groups to go directly to the flood-hit areas to inspect the traffic and irrigation systems; give gifts to families with heavy damage and direct the grassroots to help people overcome the consequences of floods.

Present at Huoi Muong village, Dong Van commune, comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong, on behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of the province, visited and presented gifts to 3 families whose houses were swept away in the recent flash flood: the families of Ha Van Thanh, Vi Van Thang, and Ha Tien Mao, each family received 10 million VND.

At the same time, the units: Provincial Red Cross Association, Nghe An Radio and Television Station, Hua Na Hydropower Joint Stock Company under the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group also donated 7 million VND to each family (Provincial Red Cross Association and Nghe An Radio and Television Station each donated 1 million VND, Hua Na Hydropower Joint Stock Company donated 5 million VND). In addition, the Delegation also donated 2 million VND to support the family of Mr. Vi Van Loi, residing in Huoi Muong village, Dong Van commune, whose house was flooded in the flood (of which the Provincial Red Cross Association donated 1 million VND, and Nghe An Radio and Television Station donated 1 million VND).
