Nghe An provincial leaders work with Gyeonggi province (South Korea)
(Baonghean.vn) - On May 23, a working delegation of the People's Council of Nghe An province visited and worked with Gyeonggi province (South Korea).
Comrade Nguyen Nam Dinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Nghe An province led the working delegation. The delegation included leaders of the Department of Foreign Affairs and related units.

Welcoming the delegation were Mr. Yom Jong-Hyun - Chairman of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council; Moon Hyung Kun - Head of the Nghe An Provincial Friendship Group; Lee Young Hee - Deputy Head of the Nghe An Provincial Friendship Group; Kim Jong Seog - General Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Friendship Group and related members.
Gyeonggi is the most populous province in Korea. Gyeonggi, together with Seoul and Incheon, is collectively known as the Seoul region, with an area of 11,730 km² and a population of 22,766,850 people (2005), accounting for 48% of the national population. It is the region with the most important political, economic and cultural status in Korea.

Gyeonggi Province is the backbone of the Seoul region, with the most developed economy in Korea, with heavy industry, textiles, livestock, fisheries, information technology, tourism... Gyeonggi is also famous for local products, especially Incheon rice, Incheon/Gwangju ceramics; it is also home to global information technology corporations, such as Suwon Samsung semiconductor, Paju's, LG LCD Complex Group, Incheon's SK Hynix,...
With such characteristics, Gyeonggi province is also where many Vietnamese and Nghe An workers come to live and work.
Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Nguyen Nam Dinh emphasized that Vietnam always attaches importance to and promotes the Comprehensive Partnership with Korea. After more than 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations, cooperation in all fields from foreign affairs, trade, investment, tourism, culture, education, sports, etc. between the two countries has increasingly developed. In particular, cooperation between the parliaments and local elected bodies of the two countries is also highly valued.

Nghe An - the homeland of the great President Ho Chi Minh is a large province of Vietnam, with the largest area and the 4th largest population; economic scale and foreign direct investment attraction FDI are in the top 10 of Vietnam. Up to now, Nghe An has 23 Korean FDI projects and the number of Korean FDI projects in Nghe An is forecast to continue to increase sharply in the coming time; import and export turnover between Nghe An and Korea accounts for 21% of the total import and export turnover of the whole province.

Since 2005, Vinh city, Nghe An province and Namyangju city, Gyeonggi province have established cooperative relations. Nghe An province and Gyeonggi province signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish cooperative relations in 2009 and 2014. In recent times, the two provinces have had many activities, exchanges, and cooperation in investment, trade, tourism, culture, sports, and education.

At the meeting, leaders of the two provinces discussed and exchanged issues to continue strengthening and promoting the cooperative relationship to further develop in the coming time./.
