North Korean leader Kim Jong-un reappears
North Korean media reported early this morning (May 2) that leader Kim Jong-un appeared in public for the first time in 20 days, according to Aljazeera.
Kim attended the inauguration of a fertilizer plant in Suncheon, near Pyongyang, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said. Kim was accompanied by other senior North Korean officials, including his sister Kim Yo Jong.

Reuters news agency quoted KCNA as saying that Mr. Kim “cut the ribbon” at the factory on May 1 and that attendees “burst into thunderous cheers” when he appeared.
Mr. Kim expressed satisfaction with the fertilizer factory's production system, saying that the factory has contributed significantly to the development of North Korea's chemical industry and food production, Reuters reported, citing the North's state news agency.
Rumors about Kim's health had been rife after he failed to appear at celebrations marking the birthday of late leader Kim Il Sung on April 15. His last public appearance was on April 11.
Despite South Korea and China denying the rumors, many Western media outlets continue to spread false information or unconfirmed reports about the health of the North Korean leader.
Kim Jong-un is not the first North Korean leader to be the subject of Western media speculation about his health. In the past, the late leader Kim Il-sung and late President Kim Jong-il also had to "bear" similar malicious rumors.
