Heavy rain in Lao Cai due to storm No. 10 caused flash floods, landslides, and inundation in many places, leaving one person missing, five injured, and hundreds of houses damaged.

On the morning of September 30, storm No. 10 entered Lao Cai, bringing heavy rain with rainfall ranging from 70 to 150 mm, with many places exceeding 250 mm. Flash floods and landslides occurred in many areas, causing heavy losses in the locality. In just one night, the province recorded 1 missing person and 5 injured people.

According to statistics, from September 28 to the morning of September 30, Lao Cai had nearly 650 houses with damaged or blown-off roofs. More than 801 hectares of rice and crops were affected, and many livestock and poultry were swept away.

The transportation system was severely damaged: Provincial Road 162 had a landslide of about 30,000 m³ of earth and rock, Provincial Road 155 had a landslide of 100 m³ in Ngu Chi Son commune, many rural roads in Duong Quy, Muong Bo, Suoi Thau Dao were cut off.

In Muong Hum commune, a woman went missing while passing through a landslide area. In Thuong Ha commune, two people were injured and hospitalized, while one person in Ta Cu Ty commune was hit by a fallen tree.

Sa Pa Ward also recorded two cases of minor injuries. In total, there were 5 people injured in the whole province.

On the morning of September 30, in Bao Nhai commune, the rising water level of the Chay River caused flooding in many residential areas. Provincial Road 153, passing through Bao Tan 1 village, was flooded more than 1 meter deep, paralyzing traffic. The cause was prolonged heavy rain combined with abnormally rising river water.

Tu Le commune has more than 30 hectares of rice fields flooded, many households had to be urgently evacuated. Khau Pha pass has 5-6 landslides, vehicles cannot pass. Local authorities have evacuated 15 households from high-risk areas.

In the early morning of September 30, heavy rain caused serious flooding in Bao Ha commune, directly affecting 50 households in many villages. The authorities had to mobilize forces to evacuate urgently and deal with landslides on National Highway 279 and many rural roads.

In Ngu Chi Son commune, 70-80 mm of rain in two days caused major landslides. Provincial Road 155 had 4 landslides, estimated at about 400 m³ of rock and soil, and has only been temporarily repaired to allow motorbikes to pass through.

The road connecting to Bat Xat is still paralyzed. Some households had their houses flooded by rocks, thousands of square meters of chayote vines were damaged, causing tens of millions of dong in damage.
