Nghe An workers at risk of being "banned" from the Korean market
(Baonghean.vn) - According to Mr. Dang Cao Thang - Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Nghe An province, this is the solution that the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has proposed for localities with many illegal workers after their labor contracts in Korea have expired.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, by the end of February 2016, there were 15 provinces and cities with illegal workers residing in Korea, accounting for 85% of the country, with a total of more than 9,000 people. Of which, Nghe An leads with 1,450 workers, followed by Hanoi (more than 940 people), Hai Duong (more than 850), Thanh Hoa, Nam Dinh...
In terms of rate, with 44.4%, Nghe An ranks 5th among provinces and cities with the rate of illegal workers residing after the expiration of their labor contracts in Korea.

Mr. Thang also said that in April 2016, the labor agreement between Vietnam and Korea will expire and the Korean side will consider signing a normal Memorandum of Understanding on labor cooperation between the two countries. However, an important condition for signing this normal Memorandum of Understanding is that Vietnam must reduce the rate of illegal workers to below 30%.

Therefore, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs is considering two options to limit illegal workers, especially in provinces and cities with a large number of illegal workers. The first option is to stop accepting applications for work in Korea in 5 provinces with a large number of illegal workers, including Nghe An.
Option 2 is not to accept applications from districts, cities, and towns of provinces with a large number of illegal workers. According to this option, Nghe An will have Vinh City and the districts of Nghi Loc, Thanh Chuong, Nam Dan, and Hung Nguyen will not be allowed to register to recruit workers to work in Korea.
Since 2005, Nghe An province has sent more than 7,000 workers to work under fixed-term contracts in Korea. In 2005 alone, 1,305 workers continued to register to work in Korea. To date, more than 1,000 workers have been selected by Korean employers and 750 have left the country. |
