Laos holds rally to celebrate major holidays with Vietnam
On the evening of April 10 at the Lao National Cultural Palace, the Central Committee of the Lao Trade Unions held a rally to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Laos and Vietnam.
Speaking at the rally, Mr. Simun Phumlasi, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Lao Trade Union Federation, said that this is one of the activities of the Lao trade union to celebrate major holidays in the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year.

Mr. Phumlasi sincerely thanked the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for the effective support of the Lao Trade Union over the years and vowed to stand side by side with the fraternal Vietnamese working class, determined to build an increasingly sustainable Vietnam-Laos relationship and called on Lao trade union members to strive to study and work to achieve practical achievements to celebrate the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year.
On behalf of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Mr. Hoang Ngoc Thanh expressed his pleasure to visit the brotherly country of Laos at a time when the two Parties and States have had many activities to launch the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year.
Mr. Thanh also congratulated the achievements of Laos in general and the Lao Trade Union in particular and affirmed: The Vietnam Trade Union attaches great importance to developing the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with the Central Lao Trade Union Federation, considering this one of the top priorities in the international activities of the Trade Union and will take specific measures to make bilateral cooperation more and more effective in many fields such as training, research, experience exchange, and communication to make cooperation more and more effective.
Within the framework of the rally, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor awarded the "For the cause of building the Trade Union organization" Medal to a number of Lao Trade Union members and Lao artists who performed a special art program to celebrate major holidays in 2012./.
