Establishing a Steering Committee to stabilize people's lives in 4 Central provinces

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has just decided to establish a Steering Committee on solutions to stabilize the lives and production and business of people in four central provinces affected by the environmental incident caused by Formosa.
The steering committee members include leaders of the Government Office, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Information and Communications, Ministry of Public Security, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Chairmen of the People's Committees of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien - Hue provinces.
According to the decision, the steering committee is responsible for organizing inter-sectoral coordination, assisting the Government and the Prime Minister in directing the development, promulgation and implementation of solutions to stabilize the lives and production and business of people in the four central provinces affected by environmental incidents.
Steering Committee members have the responsibility to proactively propose issues related to the development and implementation of solutions to stabilize life; based on their functions and authority, proactively implement solutions to stabilize life issued by competent authorities; conduct inspections, checks, and supervise the implementation of solutions to stabilize life according to their functions and duties.
In addition, the Prime Minister also assigned the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to be the standing agency of the steering committee.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is responsible for establishing a working group to carry out statistics, compensate for damages, support overcoming consequences, restore production, and change jobs for people affected by environmental incidents.
