Establish a scholarship fund to support vocational school students
In the coming time, a talent encouragement fund to encourage talented young people to work, study and train to become good workers will be established.
This is one of the main contents of the talent promotion program in the field of vocational training signed by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs in coordination with the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education on September 13 in Hanoi.
The Fund will grant scholarships to poor vocational students with good academic performance and excellent results in provincial, national, regional and international exams.
Focusing on students of colleges and vocational schools, the joint program of these two agencies aims to build high-quality vocational colleges, encourage students to study and train, and form high-quality human resources to serve the country's industrialization and modernization, while contributing to the effective implementation of vocational training policies.
Accordingly, the program mobilizes the participation of society, especially enterprises, in developing high-level vocational training, contributing to the implementation of one of the important goals of the Vocational Training Development Strategy for the period 2011 - 2020: by 2020, the training quality of some occupations will reach the level of developed countries in the ASEAN region and the world, forming a skilled workforce, contributing to improving national competitiveness.
The program focuses on several main contents. That is to encourage the whole society to respond to the policy of dividing students into vocational training, especially high school graduates, helping young people imbue with the motto of starting a career in the spirit of "One skill mastered, one life honored".
In addition, the cooperation project also calls on businesses to have preferential mechanisms and policies in recruiting and using excellent graduates of vocational colleges. Vocational colleges and universities are encouraged to have suitable training majors, effectively coordinate and implement joint training and in-service training activities between the two types of schools according to the provisions of law as well as improve the team of lecturers and vocational teachers.
Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Ngoc Phi highly appreciated the contribution of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education in supporting and developing policies in the field of vocational training. Despite its abundant workforce, Vietnam's human resources are still at risk of falling behind due to low qualifications, productivity, structure and competitiveness. In the near future, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs will coordinate with relevant agencies to streamline human resource training to improve the quality of domestic labor, striving to build 26 high-quality vocational schools in Vietnam by 2015 and increase this number to 40 by 2020.
