Exposing drug trafficking ring from abroad to Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) -The Vinh City Police Department's Drug Investigation Police Force has successfully dismantled a drug trafficking ring from abroad into Nghe An and then distributed and consumed in Vinh City and Ha Tinh.

In this case, the authorities exposed their drug trafficking methods, arrested both the supplier and the consumer, and seized 2 heroin cakes, 220 methamphetamine pills, and 200 grams of crystal meth.

In early May 2013, through professional measures, detectives of the Drug Crime Investigation Team of Vinh City Police discovered a drug trafficking ring from abroad to Nghe An through small-scale routes at Thanh Thuy border gate, Thanh Chuong district, led by Dau Dinh Dong (born in 1972), residing in Thanh Thuy commune, Thanh Chuong. Due to living right in the border area, Dong established relationships with bad guys on the other side of the border to create a source of drug supply for himself.

To facilitate drug trafficking activities, Dau Dinh Dong contacted his cousin Dau Dinh Long (born in 1978) in hamlet 3, Hung Chinh commune, Hung Nguyen district - a subject with 3 previous convictions for drugs and crime to find a place to sell. And the destination for the shipments of the two brothers Dong - Long was Vinh City and Ha Tinh.

In the drug trafficking relationships with Long, there is Nguyen Thi Thao (born in 1991), residing in Cua Nam ward, Vinh city. Vinh city police are no longer unfamiliar with Thao because although she is young, Thao's "collection" of criminal records has reached 3, all for the crime of illegal drug trafficking. The court sentenced her to a total of 28 years in prison for drug trafficking, but with the "trick" of getting pregnant to avoid serving her sentence, Thao was released on bail a few days later every time she was arrested. Taking advantage of the time her sentence was suspended because she was raising a young child, Thao continued to connect with Dau Dinh Long and Tran Bao Danh (born in 1987), residing in Pho Chau town, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh to participate in Dau Dinh Dong's drug ring and became a drug distributor in Vinh city and Ha Tinh.

The objects

After identifying the main subjects in this ring, the Drug Crime Investigation Team of Vinh City Police established Project 513M headed by Major Tran Duc Than, Team Leader, to fight and eradicate it. During the fight, the Project Team encountered many difficulties. Major Tran Duc Than - Team Leader of the Drug Crime Investigation Team, Vinh City Police said: The subjects in the ring all have criminal records, have been in and out of prison many times, so they have many experienced tricks to deal with it. Second, the drug collection point is very far away at Thanh Thuy border gate, making it very difficult for the detectives to monitor, especially in rainy and windy conditions. Besides, the Thanh Thuy area is often sparsely populated, so if a stranger appears, Dau Dinh Dong and his henchmen will detect and be alert, so it is very difficult for us detectives to approach.

However, with the determination to eradicate this drug trafficking ring, the Vinh City Police Department of Drug Crime Investigation has applied a comprehensive, flexible and creative approach to many professional measures. By the end of July 2013, when discovering that the subjects were collecting a large amount of money and converting it to dollars, and assuming that they would make a large shipment, the Task Force decided to crack the case and cast a net to capture the subjects.

On the night of July 27, when it was known that Dau Dinh Long and Tran Bao Danh were carrying money to Thanh Thuy, Thanh Chuong to buy goods from Dau Dinh Dong, three working groups immediately set out. At 2 a.m. on July 28, after buying 2 heroin cakes from Dong for 320 million VND, Danh drove a motorbike to take Long to Long's house in Hamlet 3, Hung Chinh Commune, then went to the delivery location for Thao. He was arrested by the police on Dang Thai Than Street (Vinh City), and 1 heroin cake was seized from Danh. At the same time, another detective group arrested Dau Dinh Long at his private home, searched and seized 1 heroin cake that Long had hidden on a hot water heater in the bathroom.

Next, the police arrested Nguyen Thi Thao, searched Thao's residence and found 220 ecstasy pills and 200 grams of crystal meth. To prevent Dau Dinh Dong from escaping, the Special Investigation Committee sent a task force to Thanh Chuong to urgently arrest the drug supplier Dau Dinh Dong, and seized a number of documents related to the drug line from Laos to Nghe An.

Evidence of the case

The success of Project 531M has contributed to stabilizing the crime and drug situation in Vinh City. According to Lieutenant Colonel Mai Chien Thang, Deputy Head of Vinh City Police, the effectiveness of the project once again affirmed the initiative in detecting, grasping the situation and organizing the fight to dismantle drug trafficking rings in Vinh City. The goal of the project is to target the right ringleaders who have been trading drugs for a relatively long time, taking advantage of loopholes in the law. This project also shows that the methods of operation of the subjects are increasingly sophisticated, requiring the specialized force in charge of drug crime prevention to always learn from experience and apply professional activities to bring about the final victory.
