The project is still in the research phase, but engineers have already obtained a series of modern technologies that allow to overcome the obstacles with underwater automation systems, including the negative effects of salt water and pressure. Underwater, there are limitations for transmitting communication commands, so the unmanned underwater vehicles of the future will be able to move without direct remote control.

"The goal is to create a system that would allow underwater vehicles to operate underwater for months and even years," — the newspaper said, referring to US military representatives.
