"Taking people as the root" in Lau village

(Baonghean) -By creatively "following" based on actual conditions to promote the development of household economic models, afforestation and forest protection, focusing resources on building new rural areas in Lau village, Thach Giam commune (Tuong Duong), people's lives have been improved, the appearance of the village has changed...

Lau village has 85 households with 343 people, 100% of whom are Thai ethnic people. Previously, the village was very difficult, poor, backward, and slash-and-burn farming was widespread. Implementing the "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh" campaign in conjunction with implementing the policy of the Tuong Duong District Party Committee on developing afforestation, grass planting and livestock raising, Lau village Party Cell launched a labor production movement among the people. The policy was concretized by the Party Cell through a specialized resolution suitable to the actual situation of the locality, which is to develop the forest economy, at the same time, propagate and mobilize people not to burn slash-and-burn farming, plant trees of economic value and protect forests, exploit the potential of forest land.

In order for people to follow, the village's elder association has taken the lead in protecting and enclosing abandoned forest land to plant acacia, met, xoan, etc. Through this model, the association has gradually encouraged villagers to follow suit, creating a vibrant forest planting movement throughout the village. The good news is that many households in the village, thanks to forest planting, have been able to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, develop their economy and become well-off households in the village.

Along with the tree planting and afforestation movement, the Party cell focused on leading and directing the people to implement the new rural construction. Previously, the main road as well as the branch roads in the village were winding, narrow, and dirt roads, so it was often muddy when it rained. Party cell secretary Vi Thi Son and the Party cell committee mobilized people in households near the road to voluntarily demolish the fence and clear the corridor. Many people volunteered to donate land and plants to expand the village's traffic roads, such as Xa Hung Chuong's family with more than 100 trees, Xen Cong Vo, Xa Van Danh, Xa Van Thon cut down mango, meter, and acacia trees... the whole village donated more than 1,854 square meters of garden land without any compensation or support.

Not only that, the people of Lau village voluntarily contributed sand, gravel, and labor days to build rural roads. Village roads and alleys in the village are now mostly concreted, the whole village has more than 1,000m long and 3.5m wide. Comrade Kha Van Diem - Head of the Propaganda Department of Tuong Duong District Party Committee commented: "The successful lesson in promoting the implementation of Directive 03-CT/T.Ư of Lau village is to promote the exemplary role of cadres, party members, and prestigious people in the community, creating people's trust in the Party, promoting the implementation of political tasks and promoting the strength of the great national unity bloc."

It can be said that studying and following Uncle Ho is increasingly spreading among cadres, party members and people of Lau village. It is worth noting that through implementing the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's moral example associated with innovation and improving the quality of Party cell activities, the leadership capacity and fighting strength of the Party cell have been enhanced. For many consecutive years, the Party cell has been recognized as a clean and strong organization, especially in 2013, the Lau village Party Cell was awarded a certificate of merit by the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee for being a typical example in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's moral example.
