The project will support ministries, sectors and government agencies in implementing international obligations on ensuring human rights.

On July 23, 2013, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) held a ceremony to announce the Cooperation Project entitled "Continuing and supporting the implementation of recommendations under the Universal Periodic Review Mechanism of Vietnam: Strengthening capacity to ensure human rights in Vietnam".

The project will be implemented in the 2013-2016 period with the aim of contributing to improving the effectiveness of implementing Vietnam's commitments and obligations under regional and international mechanisms as well as international treaties on human rights; supporting Vietnam to participate in a number of other important international treaties.

In addition, the Project also aims to help raise public awareness through propaganda activities, information dissemination and support the development of human rights education programs.

Speaking at the Launching Ceremony, Mr. Hoang Chi Trung, Director of the Department of International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Project Director, hoped that the Project would effectively support relevant ministries, branches and government agencies in implementing international obligations on ensuring human rights.

Ms. Louise Chamberlain, UNDP Country Director in Vietnam, affirmed that UNDP and other specialized agencies of the United Nations will continue to support the Vietnamese Government in implementing international commitments on human rights and promoting Vietnam's international integration process, including in the field of human rights./.
