(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 5, leaders of Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, along with leaders of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, Anh Son District Party Committee, Linh Son Commune Party Committee, and the Phan Hoang family held a ceremony to offer incense and flowers at the Phan Hoang Family Temple (Linh Son Commune), the Hieu Yen Xuan National Historical Site (where the first Party cell of Anh Son District was established) and the grave of comrade Phan Thai At at Nui Heo Cemetery, Linh Son Commune - Anh Son District.

On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the birth of comrade Phan Thai At (1894-2014) - the first Secretary of the Communist Party Cell in Anh Son, Secretary of the General Farmers' Association of Nghe An, Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, Member of the Central Region Party Committee, a loyal revolutionary soldier, an excellent son of his hometown Anh Son - Nghe An, a lifetime of dedication to the revolutionary ideals of the Party and the nation. Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Minh - Acting Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, Pham Thanh Hai - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee; Le Ba Hung - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee; Le Hong Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Anh Son District Party Committee, together with leaders of the Provincial People's Committee and departments, branches of the two provinces of Nghe An and Quang Ngai, leaders of Anh Son district, Linh Son commune and many descendants, relatives of the Phan Hoang family, students, teachers of schools in the district.

Speaking at the incense offering ceremony, on behalf of the Standing Committee of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, Comrade Nguyen Minh - Acting Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, outlined the basic features of the life, background and revolutionary career of Comrade Phan Thai At, and highlighted the great contributions of Comrade Phan Thai At to the revolution, his hometown Anh Son in particular, Nghe An, Quang Ngai in general. He emphasized: during the years of revolutionary activities, Comrade Phan Thai At always showed his intelligence, steadfast revolutionary spirit, and was not afraid of difficulties, hardships, and dangers. From the first Party cell secretary in Anh Son, Secretary of the Red Farmers' Association of Nghe An province, and then mobilized by the Central Party Committee to work in Quang Ngai and the Central provinces to build revolutionary bases, Comrade Phan Thai At had to disguise himself and do many jobs and was arrested and brutally tortured by the enemy many times, but he still maintained the iron faith, steadfast revolutionary spirit, and indomitable spirit of a communist soldier. Wherever he went in Quang Ngai province and the Central provinces, he was loved and protected by the people; the people of all ethnic groups in Quang Ngai trusted and assigned him many important positions such as: Deputy Secretary, then Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, member of the Central Party Committee...

In May 1935, Phan Thai At was captured by the enemy and exiled to Con Dao. After the August Revolution succeeded, Phan Thai At and other revolutionary soldiers captured by the enemy and imprisoned in Con Dao were picked up by the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on a ship to return to the mainland. His health was declining, and his superiors created conditions for him to return home to rest and receive medical treatment, but he volunteered to stay and work and was sent to Cambodia to help the neighboring country build a resistance base. In 1953, Phan Thai At was summoned back to the country by the Central Committee to prepare for the Dien Bien Phu campaign. From 1953 to March 1958, he was seriously ill and was sent to China for medical treatment.

During his revolutionary activities, he was awarded and posthumously awarded by the Party and State: Ho Chi Minh Medal; Third-class Independence Medal; First-class Resistance Medal against France and many other noble medals.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrades Le Ba Hung and Le Hong Vinh affirmed the important contributions of comrade Phan Thai At to his hometown Anh Son, Nghe An province, Quang Ngai province in the early years of the 20th century. At the same time, they sincerely thanked the Standing Committee of Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, leaders of departments and branches of Nghe An and Quang Ngai provinces; Anh Son District Party Committee, Linh Son Commune Party Committee and government; and Phan Hoang family for coordinating to organize this solemn, respectful and touching incense and flower offering ceremony on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the birth of comrade Phan Thai At. This is an opportunity for the Party Committee and people of Nghe An and Quang Ngai provinces in general and Anh Son's hometown in particular to review and better understand the life and great contributions of comrade Phan Thai At to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation; to draw useful lessons in the work of Party building and national defense today.
