Naming Ceremony of Nghe An – Xieng Khouang Road

(Baonghean.vn)To practically celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and the 35th anniversary of signing the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Lao People's Democratic Republic, this afternoon (August 25), in Vinh City, the People's Committee of Nghe An Province and the People's Committee of Vinh City solemnly held the Naming Ceremony of Nghe An - Xieng Khouang Road.

Attending the ceremony, on the Lao delegation, there were comrade Bun Tha Vi Si Xu Phan Thong - Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment of the Lao People's Democratic Republic; comrade Som Cot Mang No Mech - Member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Secretary of Xieng Khouang Province; comrade Som Suc Xim Pha Vong - Deputy Secretary of Xieng Khouang Province... On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrades of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council - Provincial People's Committee, representatives of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee, departments and branches; leaders of the City Party Committee, People's Committee and a large number of people of Vinh City.

The speech at the ceremony, presented by Comrade Nguyen Xuan Sinh - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vinh City People's Committee, reviewed the long-standing solidarity, close-knit and loyal relationship between the people of Vietnam and Laos, stating that Nghe An and Xieng Khouang are two sister provinces with a special friendship in the history of resistance war to defend the fatherland as well as in peacetime contributing to the country's construction. In recent years, the Party organizations, authorities and people's organizations of the two provinces have had many friendly exchange activities to deepen the relationship between the two localities and the two countries, raising it to a new level....

In order to contribute to honoring and marking an important milestone to enhance the friendship between Vietnam and Laos in general and the people of Nghe An and Xieng Khouang in particular, Nghe An Province and Vinh City People's Committee have chosen National Highway 46 with a length of 5,200m, a width of 21m and a planned expansion of 36m (from Quan Banh Intersection to the end of Nghi An Commune, the longest road among the roads named after famous people in Vinh City today) to name the road "Nghe An - Xieng Khouang"... At the ceremony, delegates from the two countries and two provinces performed the naming ceremony of the road "Nghe An - Xieng Khouang" as well as visited this road./.
