(Baonghean.vn) - The owner of the Gold Medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad "buried his head in studying" for 3 years in high school. These are the shares of Pham Trung Quoc Anh at the welcoming ceremony for students who won the Gold Medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad 2020.

On the afternoon of July 31, the Department of Education and Training held a ceremony to welcome Pham Trung Quoc Anh - a 12A4 student of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, who won the Gold Medal at the 2020 International Chemistry Olympiad.

The 2020 International Chemistry Olympiad was hosted by Türkiye with the participation of 60 countries and territories. However, due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, the exam was held online and there was no practical exam.

Overcoming the difficulties of the exam, the Vietnamese student team excellently won 4 Gold Medals, rising to 2nd place in the world, after the US.

With this achievement, Pham Trung Quoc Anh became the first student from Nghe An to win a Gold Medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad. This achievement once again affirms the quality of teaching and learning at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted and adds to the list of achievements in Regional and International Olympiads.

Speaking at the ceremony, Pham Trung Quoc Anh shared about the process of participating in the exam during the complicated Covid-19 pandemic worldwide. This year's exam has also been postponed many times due to concerns about the dangers of the epidemic. Particularly during the exam days from July 23 to July 25, candidates must practice centralized isolation in the dormitory.

With the achievements, the owner of the International Chemistry Olympiad Gold Medal expressed his gratitude to the school and teachers: Although I had to go through many difficulties and challenges to get the International Chemistry Gold Medal, I am always proud because behind the achievements there are always people who silently contribute, groups that support me and organizations that have created many conditions for me to be who I am today.

Pham Tran Quoc Anh also gave special thanks to his family for "always being there, accompanying and supporting me on every journey", and thanked his friends for "burying his head in studying and not having many memories of his high school years, but still having friends who always encouraged and comforted him when he was under too much pressure and tired"...

With these achievements, Pham Trung Quoc Anh also affirmed, "Today's achievements will be a foundation for me to continue to strive to practice, study, and grow more mature in the next stage."

It is known that to have this excellent final result, Pham Tran Quoc Anh also had failures in grade 11. However, overcoming obstacles, Pham Tran Quoc Anh made efforts to reach the top position in the national team selection round in grade 12 and then excellently won the Gold Medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad in 2020.
