Solemn welcoming ceremony for the General Secretary and President of Laos

At the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong and his wife, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Truong Tan Sang and his wife, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Choummaly Sayasone and his wife arrived in Hanoi, beginning an official friendship visit to Vietnam.

Mr. Le Hong Anh, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat; Head of the Central External Relations Commission Hoang Binh Quan; Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and representatives of many Vietnamese agencies, departments and sectors went to the airport to welcome General Secretary, President Choummaly Sayasone and his wife along with the high-ranking delegation of the Lao Party and State.

On the morning of December 26, the official welcoming ceremony for General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Choummaly Sayasone and his wife, along with members of the high-ranking delegation of the Lao Party and State, was solemnly held at the Presidential Palace.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and his wife presided over the welcoming ceremony.

Also attending the welcoming ceremony were Mr. Le Hong Anh, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Dinh The Huynh, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Ms. Nguyen Thi Doan, Party Central Committee member, Vice President; Mr. Hoang Binh Quan, Party Central Committee member, Head of the Central External Relations Department; Mr. Pham Binh Minh, Party Central Committee member, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and representatives of many ministries, central agencies and Hanoi city.

Military bands played the national anthems of both countries. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong invited General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone to review the honor guard of the Vietnam People's Army and introduce the officials present at the welcoming ceremony.

Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong led the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation and General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone led the Lao high-ranking delegation to hold talks at the Party Central Committee Headquarters.

On behalf of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong warmly welcomed General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone and the high-ranking delegation of the Lao Party and State to their official friendship visit to Vietnam. The visit is an important political event in the Vietnam-Laos and Laos-Vietnam Solidarity and Friendship Year, demonstrating the pure and loyal solidarity and friendship, and the close comradeship between the two Parties, States and peoples of Vietnam and Laos.

General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone expressed his pleasure to pay an official friendship visit to Vietnam in the joyful atmosphere celebrating the brilliant success of the Laos-Vietnam and Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year.

General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone thanked the Party, State and people of Vietnam for their warm and sincere welcome, and the solidarity between the two peoples. The visit is a continuation and promotion of the great relationship and strong solidarity between the two peoples, affirming the desire and determination to continuously nurture and develop the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos and Laos and Vietnam.

On the same morning, General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone and his wife, along with members of the high-ranking delegation of the Lao Party and State, laid wreaths and visited the Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh, the beloved leader of the Vietnamese people, who worked hard to build the special Vietnam-Laos relationship.
