Vietnam's largest French food festival will return next April

Following the success of the previous two events in 2018 and 2020, the largest French culinary festival in Vietnam "Balade en France" (Around France) will return to the capital Hanoi with a special edition on April 14-16.

On March 28, the French Embassy in Hanoi held a press conference to introduce the special edition of the 2023 "Balade en France" Food Festival.

As part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between France and Vietnam (April 12, 1973 - April 12, 2023), the French culinary festival "Balade en France" will promote French cuisine and is part of a series of special events taking place across the country from the beginning of 2023.

Co-chaired by the French Embassy in Vietnam and the Hanoi People's Committee, the festival will take place at Ly Thai To Square and the walking street around Hoan Kiem Lake from April 14 to 16.

Speaking at the meeting, French Ambassador to Vietnam, Nicolas Warnery, affirmed that the French culinary festival in Hanoi is the result of history and common interest in “enjoying delicious food”. According to Mr. Nicolas Warnery, Vietnamese and French people share the same interest in enjoying delicious food. French cuisine as well as French products are abundantly present in Hanoi as well as throughout Vietnam. This is a manifestation of the “culture of sharing” which is also the slogan for the 50th anniversary of the relationship between the two countries.

It is known that this event is considered special, because there will be many restaurants, importers and many brands representing the French art of living participating in the event such as: Paysan Breton, Métropole, Red Apron, Marou, Saint Honoré, La Table Hanoia, French fruit and cold meat industry associations, France 24 TV channel... Participants can share happy moments with tasting activities of high-quality products such as milk, chocolate, bread, cheese, cold meat, fruit, wine and spirits...

French chefs will directly demonstrate the culinary style of this country. Some products will be displayed for sale at the event. In addition to the culinary space, "Balade en France" also has the diverse participation of booths on tourism, hotels and studying abroad in France. Parallel to this culinary event is a rich cultural and artistic program with performances on the main stage by professional and amateur singers, French film screenings, painting and hip-hop dance classes... to bring visitors the experience of a real walk in France.

According to Ms. Chaminade, Counselor for Agriculture and Food of the French Embassy in Vietnam, based on the organization of previous events, the Embassy wishes to propose organizing the event “Balade en France” in Hanoi under the co-chairmanship of the French Embassy and Hanoi City. With the support of the French Embassy, ​​the French Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty as well as Hanoi City, and businesses called by the Embassy, ​​this event continues to demonstrate the spirit of friendly cooperation between Vietnam and France on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and 10 years of strategic partnership.

The official opening ceremony of this year’s special edition of “Balade en France” in Hanoi will take place at 7pm on Friday, April 14. It is expected that the “Balade en France” event will be held in parallel with activities in the Vietnam-France promotion space and an art program to welcome the 12th Vietnam-France Local Cooperation Conference./.
