Temple Hill (Cua Rao, Xa Luong Commune, Tuong Duong District, Nghe An) used to belong to Xieng Xung, the political, economic and cultural center of Muong Xung. Archaeologists have discovered many relics of the Phung Hung culture period at Temple Hill.
It is not clear when Cua Rao Temple was built or who it worships, but every year when Tet comes, people in the area often come here to offer prayers to Buddha, pray for favorable weather, bountiful crops, health, wealth, prosperity, national peace and prosperity, etc.
During the war, Cua Rao Temple was destroyed, then restored by Cua Rao people. Recently, Tuong Duong District People's Committee has provided funds to restore and upgrade the temple and handed it over to Xa Luong commune for management. In 2008 and 2009, Tuong Duong District People's Committee provided funding for Xa Luong people to organize a festival to gain experience.

The remarkable thing about this year's Cua Rao Temple Festival is that in many aspects, both the number of visitors and the quality, it has left a good impression on the people. This year, there were about 7,000 people attending the festival, in addition to Tuong Duong district, there were also visitors from Xieng Khouang province (Lao PDR), Ky Son district, Con Cuong district, etc. Xa Luong commune People's Committee has included many activities in the festival, such as: camping competition, cultural exchange, performing arts bearing the ethnic imprint of Tuong Duong district residents, folk games such as spring swing, tug of war, stick pushing, throwing con, boat racing, crossbow shooting, etc.
Certainly, with two years of experience in organizing commune-level festivals, from 2010 onwards, Tuong Duong district will have more experience when organizing festivals on a district-wide scale.
