(Baonghean.vn) - From February 22-24, 2014 (ie January 23-25, year of the Horse), in Huu Kiem commune (Ky Son district), Pu Nha Thau Temple festival took place.
Attending the ceremony were representatives of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, representatives of Noong Het district (Xieng Khouang province - Lao PDR), leaders of Ky Son district and a large number of people and tourists from all over.
Pu Nha Thau Temple was recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as a historical-cultural relic, a place to worship the Mother Goddess of the Upper Realm, General Doan Nhu Hai (Tran Dynasty), who died in the war against the Ai Lao invaders at the river junction and his old mother who raised the troops under his command. The place where the temple was located in the past was the place where General Doan Nhu Hai gathered military provisions. Therefore, Pu Nha Thau Temple is also called Tran Temple.
This year's Pu Nha Thau Festival takes place with the following rituals: opening ceremony, announcement ceremony, procession ceremony, great sacrifice ceremony and thanksgiving ceremony. The festival takes place enthusiastically with activities: cultural exchange, national costume contest and folk games imbued with national cultural identity (tug of war, stick pushing, throwing con, crossbow shooting, etc.). This is an opportunity for ethnic people in Ky Son district to express their spirituality, have fun and entertainment to start a new production season, and also an opportunity to preserve and promote national cultural identity.
