Nguyen Canh Hoan Temple Festival
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 13, in Trang Son commune, the People's Committee of Do Luong district and the Nguyen Canh family held the opening ceremony of the Temple of Thai Pho Tan Quoc Cong Nguyen Canh Hoan. Representatives of provincial departments, leaders of the People's Committee of Do Luong district, Trang Son commune, descendants of the Nguyen Canh family and many local people attended the festival.
Nguyen Canh Hoan (1521 - 1576) had a father named Phuc Khanh Quan Cong Nguyen Canh Huy from Ngoc Son village (Thanh Chuong). He was a general of the Le Dynasty, holding the position of Minister of War, with the title of Thai Pho, and was later posthumously awarded the title of Tan Quoc Cong.
During the early stages of the Le-Mac conflict, the Le Dynasty repeatedly sent General Nguyen Canh Hoan to lead troops into Nghe An to defend the area. In September 1576, Nguyen Canh Hoan was captured and killed by the Mac army in Thang Long citadel shortly thereafter. After the restoration, the Le Dynasty posthumously honored him as Tan Quoc Cong, ranked him as a middle-ranking official, and ordered the construction of a temple. In 1602, his main temple was built in present-day Trang Son commune. In 1991, the temple was ranked as a Cultural-Historical Relic. In addition to the main temple in Trang Son, there are also temples dedicated to Nguyen Canh Hoan in Luu Son commune (Do Luong) and in some localities in Nam Dan and Thanh Chuong districts. His tomb is currently located in Mu Cam, Trang Son commune.

It is known that after 3 festivals (1954, 1964, 1974) due to war circumstances, they were not held. In 1984, the Nguyen Canh family decided to restore it and in 2014, the "Decade of Festivals" was held after 1994 and 2004. This is an opportunity for the descendants of the Nguyen Canh family to show gratitude to their ancestors and encourage each other to contribute to building the homeland.
