Opening ceremony of the first Nghe An Vi and Giam Folk Song Festival - 2012

(Baonghean.vn) - Tonight, June 23, 2012, the first Nghe An Folk Song Festival officially opened at Ho Chi Minh Square - Vinh City.

Attending the opening ceremony of the Festival, on the Central side, there were comrades: Nguyen Sinh Hung - Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly; Nguyen Manh Cam - Former Politburo member, former Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education; Nguyen The Trung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission; Tran Van Hang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee; Le Doan Hop - former Minister of Information and Communications, Chairman of the Vietnam Media Association...; representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Department of Cultural Heritage, Department of Performing Arts. On the side of the neighboring province, there was comrade Vo Kim Cu - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Phan Dinh Trac - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Tran Hong Chau - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Ho Duc Phoc - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; representatives of provincial departments, branches, and organizations, along with a large number of people and tourists from near and far.

Before the ceremony took place, there was an art performance opening the Festival Opening Ceremony to welcome delegates and visitors to Nghe An.

The opening speech of the ceremony was delivered by Mr. Ho Duc Phoc - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasizing: Born in ancient times, Vi and Giam folk songs are a special and unique heritage of Nghe An. Vi and Giam folk songs have accompanied each other in a sustainable way and shined through all periods of cultural history and national history. In order to compile a dossier to include in the list of national intangible cultural heritage and towards compiling a scientific dossier to submit to UNESCO to recognize Vi and Giam folk songs of Nghe An as intangible cultural heritage representing humanity, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee coordinated with Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee to organize the first Vi and Giam folk song festival of Nghe An.

The festival has been held for many months at the grassroots level, from the Sen Village Singing Festival associated with the Nghe An Folk Song Festival of districts, cities, and towns in the two provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh, to the Festival from district clusters, schools, selecting excellent performances from clubs, to today's provincial-level Festival final with over 20 participating clubs. This festival mainly introduces the performances of Nghe An folk songs and Giam in the spaces of rivers, fields, villages, and occupations in all localities to revive the old scenes when our ancestors clung to the land and villages to live and develop. This is also an opportunity for artisans to meet, exchange experiences, introduce new melodies, and at the same time, it is also an opportunity to gather the feelings of the creators of mass art in the two provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh.

The art program "Vi, Giam... sparkling soul of Nghe An", directed by the People's Committee of Nghe An province and the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province, General Director Vu Hai, performed by actors of Nghe An Folk Song Theater, Nghe An Mountainous Ethnic Song and Dance Troupe; Military Region 4 Art Troupe; Vietnam Youth Theater, Vietnam Dance School, Nghe An School of Culture and Arts, and People's Artists: Hong Luu, Meritorious Artist Tien Dung, Meritorious Artist Ngoc Ha, singers Bui Le Man, Phuong Thao... helped the audience understand the origin of folk songs. And the Vi, Giam folk songs are the sweet milk that contributes to nurturing and forming the character and soul of generations of Nghe An people, including national heroes, famous sages, patriots, and typical writers such as Nguyen Du, Nguyen Cong Tru, Phan Boi Chau... especially President Ho Chi Minh.

The art program combines the art of singing, dancing, music and stage performances with the characteristics of Nghe An and Vietnamese culture, bringing to the audience the deep and sweet emotions of a folk song region of Nghe An, as well as the love of folk songs of the people of Nghe Tinh.
