Signing Ceremony of “Educating Youth Prisoners and Helping Them Reintegrate into the Community”

(Baonghean.vn) This morning, December 5, at Prison No. 3, the signing ceremony of the Coordination Plan between Prison No. 3 and the Vietnam Youth Union of Nghe An province on "Educating juvenile prisoners and helping them reintegrate into the community" took place.

The signing program was implemented according to Plan No. 9330/KHPH dated November 1, 2011 between the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union and the General Department of Criminal Enforcement and Judicial Support (General Department VIII) - Ministry of Public Security on "Educating juvenile prisoners and helping them reintegrate into the community in the period 2011-2015". To mobilize resources of the Youth Union at all levels and society to actively participate in the education of prisoners in general and juvenile prisoners in particular, helping them to study, reform, progress, have a stable life after serving their prison terms, contributing to reducing the rate of recidivism and law violations, becoming honest people, useful to society.

Prison No. 3 has about 800 young prisoners out of 2,000 prisoners, with the characteristic of a prison with only male prisoners, most of whom have long prison sentences and have no jobs before serving their sentences. The participation of organizations and businesses in training, career guidance and recruitment are necessary actions to help prisoners gain more confidence to become useful people for their families and society.


Implementing the coordination plan, the Youth Union will strengthen education; organize career guidance and vocational training activities for juvenile inmates, organize career guidance and vocational training support activities and receive those who have made progress in their rehabilitation process and have suitable skills to work in businesses to create a living. Strive for the majority of juvenile inmates to have jobs and a stable life after completing their prison sentences in their localities. Based on actual conditions every year, the two units will coordinate to organize 2 to 3 activities on major holidays or at appropriate times.




Giving gifts to prisoners who have reformed well

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Van Ninh highly appreciated the content of the agreement signed by both sides, and hoped that the two units participating in the signing ceremony would have preliminary reviews, assessments, and lessons learned to implement the cooperation program with better results.


Speaking at the ceremony, prisoner Do Anh Quan - 28 years old, from Hanoi, emotionally said that the noble acts of organizations in the social community will create more confidence to help prisoners like him erase their inferiority complex. On behalf of prisoners, he promised to reform well so that when he returns to the community, he will become a useful citizen.


At the signing ceremony, the Provincial Youth Union coordinated with the Youth Development and Support Center to present 25 gifts to prisoners with good behavior, each worth 200,000 VND.
