In recent years, the work of population and family planning has always been focused on by departments, branches and organizations at all levels, so this work has achieved many important results. In 2013, many targets on population and family planning implemented by Nghe An were achieved and exceeded: The birth rate decreased by 0.77%, the third child birth rate decreased by 0.36% compared to 2012. The rate of gender imbalance at birth met the assigned target, the project models to improve population quality, 3-level screening have been implemented and started to be effective. The issue of maternal and child health care is increasingly improved... However, currently, the population and family planning work of Nghe An continues to face many risks and challenges: It is still a province with a high birth rate, the 4th largest population in the country and continues to increase; population quality and reproductive health still have many limitations; the rate of population aging is fast.
