National launching ceremony of the campaign “Clean up the world 2013”

On the morning of September 21, in Da Lat City, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment coordinated with the People's Committee of Lam Dong Province and the Australian Embassy in Vietnam to organize the national launching ceremony of the campaign "Make the world cleaner in 2013".


Deputy Minister Bui Cach Tuyen spoke at the launching ceremony on the morning of September 21.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Bui Cach Tuyen said that the campaign to make the world cleaner was initiated by Australia and launched by the United Nations Environment Program. The campaign is held simultaneously in the third week of September every year on a global scale. The campaign is a gathering of businesses, community groups, schools, individuals and countries around the world to participate in activities to improve and protect the environment, recover resources, collect, treat and recycle waste, and educate and raise public awareness about environmental protection.

Continuing the theme of the 2011-2012 campaign, the theme of this year's campaign is "Our habitat... Our planet... Our responsibility...". Accordingly, this theme emphasizes and highlights the impact of each individual's actions in the common activities of the community that will impact the world. Thereby raising the awareness of each individual and the community about their responsibility towards the environment, making efforts to contribute to the protection of the global environment.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Bui Cach Tuyen called on organizations, individuals, businesses, ministries, branches and localities across the country to join hands in practical actions to protect the environment; join together to create a combined strength to protect the environment, respond to climate change for the sustainable development of the country; continue to pay more attention to propaganda and education to raise awareness and awareness of environmental protection for all subjects; turn awareness of environmental protection into self-awareness and demonstrate it through specific actions. Take pollution prevention as a motto for action, overcome and eliminate the mindset of pursuing immediate economic benefits while neglecting environmental protection, while maximizing and diversifying investment resources for environmental protection.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Angela Pickett, First Secretary of the Australian Embassy in Vietnam, said that following the campaign of previous years, this year Vietnam chose Da Lat - a city in Lam Dong province which is being built to become the "greenest - cleanest - most beautiful" city in Vietnam as the launching place, making the campaign even more meaningful. She expressed her belief that all levels, sectors and people of Lam Dong province in particular and Vietnam in general will continue to make more specific and practical contributions to join hands in building a greener, cleaner and more beautiful world.

At the Ceremony, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment awarded Certificates of Merit from the Minister to 10 collectives and 9 individuals from units, agencies, departments, residential areas, workers... in Lam Dong province who have achieved outstanding achievements in environmental protection activities in recent years./.
