Le Quang Liem nominated for "Outstanding Young Vietnamese Face"
Le Quang Liem and Le Bich Phuong are two athletes included in the list of 20 candidates for the award "Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces 2010".
The Council for the “Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces 2010” award has just selected 20 nominees. In this list are two young athletes: chess player Le Quang Liem and female karate athlete Le Bich Phuong.
Le Quang Liem is currently the pride of Vietnamese chess. Recently, this player successfully defended his number one position at the Aeroflot Chess Tournament, thereby making history as the first person to win the Aeroflot Championship two years in a row.

According to the March ranking list of chess players recently announced by the World Chess Federation (FIDE), Le Quang Liem is ranked 44th in the top 100 international super grandmasters, and has risen to 3rd in the top 20 young chess players in the world.
Along with Le Quang Liem, “golden girl” Le Bich Phuong was also included in the list of candidates for the award “Outstanding Young Vietnamese Face 2010”. This female karate athlete made a leap in her career when she helped the Vietnamese sports delegation win the only gold medal at the 16th Asian Games. With this impressive achievement, Le Bich Phuong was also included by the leaders of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training in the list of candidates to receive the 3rd class Labor Medal.
The nominees for the 2010 Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces Award are young people with special achievements, representing the best in the fields of study, scientific research, production, national security, sports, culture and arts... After collecting public opinions, the Award Selection Council will decide on the "10 Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces of 2010" to award; at the same time, choose one outstanding, comprehensive face for the title "Youth Person of the Year".
