Ceremony to receive and inaugurate the statue of Lenin in Vinh city, Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 16, on the occasion of the 154th anniversary of Lenin's birth (April 22, 1870 - April 22, 2024), in President Ho Chi Minh's hometown, Nghe An province and Ulyanovsk province solemnly held the ceremony to receive and inaugurate the statue of Lenin.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Bezdetko Gennady Stepanovich - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Vietnam; also attended by the Embassy Counselor and Director of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Vietnam.
The delegation of Ulyanovsk province was headed by Mr. Kabanov Oleg Vladimirovich - Deputy Chairman of the Government of Ulyanovsk province, plenipotentiary representative of the Governor of Ulyanovsk province in the Government of the Russian Federation.
The delegation included members of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture; Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs; Director of the Ulyanovsk Provincial Center for Support and Accompanying Enterprises and Deputy Director of the Lenin Memorial Museum.
The leaders of Nghe An province include comrades: Thai Thanh Quy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Nguyen Van Thong - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
Also attending were comrades: Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province; Major General Bui Quang Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Director of the Provincial Police; Phan Duc Dong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vinh City People's Council; Bui Dinh Long - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; together with leaders of departments, branches of the province, Vinh city, Hung Dung ward; representatives of leaders of friendship organizations of the province, Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of Nghe An province, Association of Vietnamese Solidarity in Ulyanovsk province.

The Lenin statue located in Vinh city weighs 4.5 tons, is 3.6m high, made of pure copper and is located in an area of more than 1,000m2.2, the intersection of Lenin Avenue and Nguyen Phong Sac Street, Vinh City.
The pedestal of the statue is 3m high, made of steel; the front is engraved with the words "VILÊ - NIN, 1870-1924", the back is engraved with the words "Symbol of Vietnam - Russia friendship" in Vietnamese and Russian.

The statue of Lenin was cast in the Russian Federation and was donated by Ulyanovsk province and transported to Vinh city for installation. Nghe An province built the campus to house the statue.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, emphasizing that the Lenin statue is a cultural work imbued with good sentiments that the government and people of Ulyanovsk province presented to the government and people of Nghe An province, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long, on behalf of the provincial leaders, sent the most sincere thanks to the government and people of Ulyanovsk province.

Nghe An Province, Vietnam and Ulyanovsk Province, Russia have established friendly and cooperative relations since 2007. Reviewing important milestones in the relationship between the two provinces, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed: Despite the geographical distance, the two provinces have together strengthened and promoted exchange activities in the fields of culture and education.
In particular, in 2017, the two provinces inaugurated the President Ho Chi Minh Monument in Ulyanovsk province - Lenin's hometown, a prominent event marking a new development step in the relationship between the two sides.
The completed statue of Lenin in President Ho Chi Minh's hometown is a cultural and artistic symbol, expressing the close and close affection that the people of the two provinces have for each other; creating more beautiful space and a highlight for the urban appearance and central area of Vinh city.
“Moreover, through these cultural diplomatic activities, the two provinces will be more closely connected in bilateral cooperation activities in the fields of investment, trade, health, education and training, tourism…”, said the Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Nghe An province. “The government and people of Nghe An province will manage, preserve and promote the value of the project that the government and people of Ulyanovsk province have donated.”

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Bezdetko Gennady Stepanovich - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Vietnam shared that the erection of the monument to the October Socialist Revolution leader in the homeland of comrade Ho Chi Minh is a symbolic activity.
This event is a clear evidence of the historical closeness between the two countries and will continue to develop positively on the basis of agreements at high and top levels in the spirit of comprehensive strategic partnership.
Mr. Bezdetko Gennady Stepanovich believes that the statue of Lenin inaugurated in Vinh city will become the next symbol of friendship and cooperation not only between Ulyanovsk province and Nghe An province, but also between the people of the two countries in general and will be a reminder of the noble ideals of leader Lenin and President Ho Chi Minh which still have their value today.

The Lenin statue, after being designed and constructed by Ulyanovsk province, was presented to Nghe An province as a symbol of friendship and cooperation between the two provinces and will be the embodiment of the great, unbreakable friendship that has been tested over many decades between Vietnam and the Russian Federation; opening a new page in the history of relations between Russia and Vietnam.
Reviewing the cooperative relationship between Ulyanovsk province and Vietnamese partners, including Nghe An province, over the past decades, Mr. Kabanov Oleg Vladimirovich firmly believes that the cooperation between the two sides still has much potential ahead, helping to bring about common benefits.


After handing over the document of handing over the statue of Lenin, the leaders of Nghe An province, Ulyanovsk province and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Vietnam performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony and laid flowers before the statue of Lenin.
On this occasion, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation GAZyuganov and First Secretary of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Ulyanovks AVKurinnyi province sent letters of greetings and congratulations to the Party Committee and people of Nghe An province.
