It is known that during the two resistance wars against France and the US, over 5,000 Cua Lo children joined the army, 435 people joined the youth volunteer force, 650 frontline workers and dozens of veteran revolutionary cadres. Among those outstanding children, 831 children heroically sacrificed on the battlefields, 800 wounded soldiers, 180 sick soldiers and over 200 soldiers and their relatives were exposed to toxic chemicals.
In recognition and gratitude for the silent and noble dedication and sacrifice of mothers whose children sacrificed for the Fatherland, in recent years, Cua Lo town has had 16 mothers awarded or posthumously awarded the honorary title of “Heroic Vietnamese Mother”.
