Memorial service for Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh - Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission

On the morning of February 16, the Funeral Organizing Committee and family solemnly held a memorial service for Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee, National Assembly delegate, Head of the National Assembly delegation of Da Nang city, former Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang city, at his private residence on Cach Mang Thang Tam Street, Cam Le District, Da Nang city.

Attending the funeral of Head of the Internal Affairs Committee Nguyen Ba Thanh were Mr. To Huy Rua, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Committee, Head of the Funeral Organizing Committee; Mr. Phan Dinh Trac, Party Central Committee member, Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee; Mr. Tran Tho, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Da Nang City; leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front; leaders of central and local departments, ministries, branches, and organizations; agencies and units of the armed forces; economic and social organizations; international organizations, and a large number of compatriots, friends, and relatives of comrade Nguyen Ba Thanh.

At the funeral, Mr. To Huy Rua, Head of the Funeral Organizing Committee, read the eulogy highlighting the work and dedication of Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh, his great contributions to the cause of national construction, especially his contributions to the development of Da Nang city.

The eulogy reads: "In his position as Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee, then member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Council, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Da Nang City, Comrade Nguyen Ba Thanh always showed himself to be a dynamic, creative cadre, daring to think, daring to do, not afraid of difficulties, not afraid of collisions, not afraid of the lack of "policy mechanisms", pioneering in promoting the strength of the entire political system, all classes of people and the support and facilitation of the Central Government to build urban planning, management, and renovation, and to propose social security policies that are popular and rich in humanity. Thereby, he has gradually built a new, beautiful and modern urban appearance for the city on the Han River.

For many years, on every street, on every construction in Da Nang city, the image of the leader who devoted himself to the Party and the people has been deeply imprinted; leaving in the memory of every cadre, party member and people of Da Nang the simple, plain but wise words, imbued with love for life, love for people, and love for comrades of the head of the city's Party Committee.

The Politburo and the Central Party Secretariat highly appreciated Comrade Nguyen Ba Thanh. In February 2013, he was transferred to work in Hanoi, assigned to hold the position of Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission and Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption. This was an extremely difficult and challenging task. However, with a steadfast spirit, sense of responsibility and the upright character and spirit of a native of Quang Nam, Comrade Nguyen Ba Thanh quickly advised on the construction of the organizational structure, functions and tasks, and put the newly re-established Central Internal Affairs Commission into operation, directly directing the handling of a number of major and prominent cases, which were recognized by cadres, party members and the people.

His whole life was devoted to the Party and the people, devoted to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the happiness of the people. Therefore, he was always wholeheartedly supported and trusted by the people of Da Nang and a large number of cadres and party members nationwide...

In emotion and grief, thousands of people attending the funeral expressed their gratitude to comrade Nguyen Ba Thanh - a son of Quang land who has passed away."
