(Baonghean) -When the song “Road to Glory” was played, the thunderous applause, warm congratulations, certificates of merit and medals made the ceremony to honor excellent students and students with high scores in the 2011 university and college entrance exams of Nghe An province even more solemn. The faces honored this time have contributed to glorifying the long-standing tradition of studiousness of the people of Nghe An...

Shining mirrors...

133 students were honored this time, some of them with their will and determination have made miracles in their studies. They are Nguyen Huy Hoang, Nguyen Dinh Hoi (students of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted), surpassing hundreds of students from all over the world, the two of them brought home Gold and Silver medals for their homeland and country; wrote his name on the list of the world's best contestants at the 42nd International Physics Olympiad. When receiving the certificate of merit from the Provincial Party Secretary Phan Dinh Trac, Nguyen Huy Hoang was moved: "I feel proud and touched to receive the attention of the province, teachers and staff. Achieving high results in the International Physics Olympiad is a joy for me, my family and my school, but it is also an honor for my hometown. I am very happy to have written my name on the list of the world's best contestants at the exam, continuing the list of the "golden generation" of Nghe An students, once again affirming the studious spirit of my hometown..."

How precious it is when poor students in mountainous areas still face many difficulties, but they know how to overcome their circumstances, become good students, and achieve high university entrance exam scores. That is Nguyen Thi Hao (Hoi Son commune, student of Anh Son 1 High School - Anh Son district) who overcame poverty, strived to study well, and passed the entrance exam to the National Economics University with 27 points in block A and the Military Medical Academy with 23.5 points.

Sharing the same sentiment as many other new students at the award ceremony, Nguyen Minh Phu (a student at Tran Dinh Phong High School - Yen Thanh District) was also nervous, surprised and proud when receiving the award. Having lost both arms due to Agent Orange exposure from his father, Phu still overcame difficulties to study well, achieving good grades throughout his high school years. In the recent university entrance exam, Phu was given special admission to study at the school by two universities. "I feel that my efforts in the past have been recognized. Being able to stand with the valedictorians on the podium today to receive the award further urges me to be responsible for myself, to try harder and make more efforts..." - Nguyen Minh Phu shared.

In the 2011 university entrance exam, Nghe An was honored to be the second province in the country in terms of the number of candidates scoring 27 points or more. Each student, each situation is different, but all of them have the same goal, the same spirit of loving to learn and must study well. They have contributed to making Nghe An famous - a land with a rich tradition of learning.

The things that remain

This is the third consecutive year that Nghe An province has organized an award ceremony for excellent international students and students with high scores in university entrance exams, but 2011 is the first time the program has been organized on a large scale, broadcast live on the radio and television of Nghe An Radio and Television Station. The program is organized with the desire to connect the tradition of studiousness and good study of the land of learning Nghe, to encourage the emulation movement of studying, training and developing talents among students, and to honor students who have overcome difficulties and studied well.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, speaking at the commendation ceremony, comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province emphasized: "In the success of you today, there is always the inheritance of the tradition of studiousness of your homeland, the hard work of your teachers, family and friends. Proud of the achievements you have achieved, but you must always remember that these are only the initial results in the long journey of your life, you must always train and cultivate yourself. Hopefully, after years of studying at universities at home and abroad, you will acquire and absorb advanced knowledge to return to build your homeland and country..."

Not only receiving the attention and care of the province and the industry, the students also receive support from organizations and businesses. That attention will be the motivation for them to strive to rise up, to continue the arduous and glorious path of knowledge ahead. After completing their education, no matter what field or place they work in, they will contribute their efforts to the cause of building the country, making the land of learning famous.

The ceremony is also a tribute from society to parents who work hard to raise their children to become successful; to teachers who are devoted to their beloved students...

The ceremony is not only to honor the good students, the intelligent ones, the ones who have overcome their circumstances, but also to review the tradition of studiousness of our ancestors. It is also the motivation for students to strive forward on the journey of knowledge ahead; to encourage teachers to continue to devote their passion and knowledge to the cause of educating people; and to connect the hearts that care for the cause of education.
