Ceremony to honor excellent students in 2014

(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of September 1, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Nghe An province held a ceremony to honor excellent international - regional - national students and valedictorians and students with high scores in the 2014 University and College entrance exams. Attending and awarding the students were comrades: Ho Duc Phoc - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Department of Education and Training, teachers, parents and more than 200 excellent students who were honored.

Compared to previous years, this year Nghe An province has achieved many successes in the International and Regional excellent student competitions. Among them, Cao Ngoc Thai won 2 Gold Medals at the Asian and International Physics Olympiads. Nguyen Phuong Trang won a Silver Medal at the Russian Language Olympiad; Nguyen Ngoc Khanh won a Bronze Medal at the Asian Physics Olympiad. All 3 students are students of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted. On behalf of the provincial leaders, comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee presented gifts and congratulated the students for their high achievements in the International and Regional competitions.

Provincial leaders award prizes to students who achieved National Excellent Students title

The last school year was also a year of special success for Nghe An in the national excellent student competition. With 84 students winning national prizes, Nghe An is the leading province in the country in terms of students winning prizes.

Comrade Ho Duc Phoc awarded prizes to students who were valedictorians of universities.

Comrades Ho Duc Phoc and Nguyen Xuan Duong used their royalty fund to award scholarships to 7 university graduates from difficult circumstances.

In addition, in the 2014 University and College entrance exams, according to incomplete statistics, Nghe An had 131 students passing the university entrance exams with scores of 24 points or higher. Of these, more than 20 students were valedictorians and salutatorians of prestigious universities nationwide such as Foreign Trade University, Hanoi University of Pharmacy, Military Medical Academy, Logistics Academy, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, National Economics University, Hanoi University of Home Affairs, etc.

At the ceremony, the provincial leaders awarded certificates of merit, flowers and gifts to 12 students who were valedictorians of universities and 125 students who scored 24 points or more in all grades. Thereby, they expressed their belief that they will continue to glorify the tradition of studiousness and good study of their homeland Nghe An.

On behalf of excellent students, Cao Ngoc Thai awarded scholarships worth 22.7 million VND to students in difficult border areas.

To honor, encourage and motivate the students’ learning spirit, the People’s Committee of Nghe An province allocated nearly 2 billion VND to reward students with excellent achievements in the 2013-2014 university entrance exam. Students who won regional and international prizes were awarded nearly 200 million VND.
