Lee Nguyen competes with Henry for the award of Best Goal of the Year
Before the MLS Eastern Conference final, the Vietnamese-American midfielder and Thierry Henry appeared in the shortlist for the 2014 MLS Goal of the Year award.
At the end of the 2014 season, Lee Nguyen's goal in round 32 was among four nominees for the 2014 MLS Goal of the Year award.
That was the situation when the New England Revolution's attacking midfielder scored the equalizer 1-1 at Houston Dynamo's field. Jermaine Jones passed the ball to defender Anthony Soares who ran down the left wing. Lee Nguyen was in the penalty area, received a pass like a set from Soares, before flicking the ball with the outside of his right foot to eliminate two opposing players and finishing into the top corner. This goal was voted by American football fans as the best goal of week 32 with 48.75% of the votes.
