"Maintaining sanctions against Russia is suicidal, it causes great damage to our economy, so today we are voting on a resolution calling on the Italian government and the European Union to reconsider the issue of sanctions," Toti said at a meeting of the Regional Council that was considering a resolution against the sanctions regime.
He noted that "sanctions have not helped to solve any diplomatic problems, nor have they solved the crisis in the east of the European continent."
The governor assured that without an alliance with Russia it is impossible to overcome the threat facing Islamic extremism.
