After announcing the launch of a large-scale offensive against towns held by forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi, Chairman of the National Transitional Council (NTC) in Libya Mustafa Abdel Jalil was present in the capital Tripoli for the first time.

Jalil said the NTC would deploy all its forces to liberate the remaining Libyan towns of Bani Walid, Sabha and Sirte. The NTC will complete the move of its headquarters from Benghazi to Tripoli by the end of next week. “Libya will resume oil operations in three to four days,” NTC Finance and Mines Minister Ali Tarhouni said. International Monetary Fund Managing Director Christine Lagarde has recognized the NTC as the government of Libya, paving the way for financial support for Libya.

In a related development, according to AFP, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Guinea Bissau, Mr. Carlos Gomes Junior, said that this West African country is ready to welcome Mr. Muammar Gaddafi if he requests asylum.
