(Baonghean.vn) - August 1st became a major milestone in the history of our people's revolutionary struggle under the leadership of the Party, associated with the birth of a valuable historical document, marking a very meaningful activity in the Party's propaganda work.

1. History of the Party's Propaganda Department's Traditional Day

On June 5, 1911, the patriotic young man Nguyen Tat Thanh left the Fatherland to find a way to save the country. Overcoming the limitations of the patriotic intellectuals and bourgeois revolutionaries of the time, Nguyen Ai Quoc came to Marxism-Leninism, and the decisive event was when he read Lenin's full text published in the newspaper on July 16 and 17, 1920. From then on, he tried to spread the way to save the country in Vietnam.

Propaganda work was directly carried out by Nguyen Ai Quoc and senior revolutionary soldiers at that time through printing, publishing, distributing documents, books, newspapers, leaflets, organizing training classes for cadres, etc.

At the same time, the revolutionary organizations that were the predecessors of the Communist Party of Vietnam also established specialized departments in charge of propaganda work, such as a team of theorists, propagandists, political agitators, editors and reporters, artists, etc. These activities actively contributed to the great event in the history of the nation: the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam on February 3, 1930.

After the Party Founding Conference, the ideological task of our Party was to propagate the documents of the Party Founding Conference, to encourage and motivate all classes of people to be enlightened about the revolution, to understand the Party, to support the Party, to believe in and follow the Party in making revolution. Based on that requirement, the Party was founded on February 3, 1930, and organized propaganda activities, mobilizing workers and farmers to hold rallies and demonstrations against terrorism, demanding national independence and democracy.

In particular, on August 1, 1930, the Propaganda and Agitation Department of the Communist Party of Vietnam published the document "International Red Day August 1" to commemorate International Red Day August 1, the day of fighting against imperialist war, protecting peace, protecting the Soviet Union, supporting the national liberation movement, calling on soldiers to unite with the people to respond to the struggle against imperialist war.

This is the only and earliest document that remains to this day that clearly states: The Propaganda and Agitation Department of the Communist Party of Vietnam published this document. When it was published, it caused a great deal of public opinion in contemporary society and had a great power of encouragement for the workers and peasants of our country to rise up to fight against the imperialist war, protect the Soviet Union, support the national liberation movement, and from August 1 to October 1930, hundreds of rallies and demonstrations by our people against the imperialist war broke out throughout the country.

In some places, responding to the call of the Communist Party of Vietnam, soldiers did not shoot at the masses when they were sent to suppress demonstrations and rallies of the people. Since then, August 1st has become a major milestone in the history of the revolutionary struggle of our people under the leadership of the Party, associated with the birth of a valuable historical document, marking a very meaningful activity in the Party's propaganda work.

Based on these historical documents and events of special significance, in 2000, the Politburo (VIII tenure) decided to take August 1st of each year as the Traditional Day of the Party's ideological and cultural work. In 2007, after the Central Ideological and Cultural Commission and the Central Science and Education Commission merged into the Central Propaganda Commission and the Central Party Secretariat (X tenure), it decided to take August 1st of each year as the Traditional Day of the Propaganda Sector. And on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the traditional day, on August 1st, 2002, the Propaganda Sector was awarded the noble "Golden Star Medal" by the State.

Thus, August 1, 1930 is considered the Founding Day or also known as the Traditional Day of the Party's Propaganda Sector. But in reality, propaganda work existed before the Party was founded, since Nguyen Ai Quoc began his activities to spread the path to national salvation in Vietnam.

2. The meaning of the Party's Propaganda Sector's Traditional Day

The traditional day of the Propaganda Sector has profound political, ideological and cultural significance. It is a historical milestone marking the birth and increasingly strong growth of the Party's propaganda sector - the sector with the earliest history in the Party's leadership activities, affirming the primary importance of ideological work in the activities of establishing the Communist Party as well as in the Party's leadership.

Over the 87-year history of construction and development, the Party's specialized agency for propaganda work has had different names and has been divided and merged several times to suit the requirements and tasks of each revolutionary period. This is an opportunity for Party committees, authorities at all levels, sectors and cadres doing propaganda work to have a deeper understanding of the role and position of propaganda work, considering it a particularly important field in the Party's leadership activities.

Propaganda work includes the following areas: political theory, ideology, culture, science, education... it impacts people's thoughts, intelligence, and emotions in a subtle and sensitive way, requiring the constant strengthening of the leadership of the Party Committee with increasingly high requirements to meet the demands of reality.

The entire Party, people and army review and promote the Party's revolutionary fighting tradition in the field of propaganda work. Thereby, contributing to consolidating and maintaining the Party's propaganda battlefield, ensuring political and ideological unity, steadfastness in principles, and enhancing trust in the Party and the people.

Party committees at all levels should increase their attention to leadership and direction of propaganda work; state management agencies at all levels should strengthen their relationships and coordinate work with propaganda departments at all levels in carrying out assigned political tasks.

Propaganda officers and a large number of officers and soldiers working in propaganda fields strive to improve their professional qualifications, cultivate their moral qualities, and demonstrate their determination to excellently complete assigned tasks, contributing to the successful implementation of the cause of industrialization, modernization of the country and international integration for the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness and civilization.

Over the past 87 years since its founding, our Party has led the people in the continuous struggle for the goals of national independence and socialism. In the process of leading the revolution, the Party has attached great importance to ideological work. The Party's work has made an important contribution to the glorious victories of the Party and the people./.
