Northern mountainous provinces art photography festival
The 7th Northern Mountainous Region Art Photography Festival 2012, organized by the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists in coordination with the People's Committee of Phu Tho province, officially took place on August 10 at the Hung Vuong Museum, Viet Tri city (Phu Tho).

This is a meaningful activity on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day September 2 and towards the 50th anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit to Phu Tho (August 19, 1962 - August 19, 2012).
The festival with the theme "Life of ethnic minorities in the Northern mountainous region today" aims to praise the natural beauty and people of the Northern midlands and mountainous region, examples of following Uncle Ho's teachings, and the beauty in the economic, cultural and social life of ethnic minorities...
The festival has the participation of 15 provinces in the northern midland and mountainous region, including Lao Cai, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Son La, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen, Hoa Binh, Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc.
With more than 1,630 works by nearly 295 authors, both professional and amateur, the works depict the majestic beauty of nature; reflect the industrial labor atmosphere on construction sites; and depict images of armed forces soldiers on duty to protect the country's border areas.
Many works reflect good people and good deeds, the beauty of farmers' labor, and the unique cultural life of ethnic minorities.
Each author can submit a maximum of eight color or black and white photos, sized between 30cm x 40cm and 30cm x 45cm; square photos are 30cm x 30cm.
According to the assessment of the Arts Council and photographers, the quality of photos this year is quite even.
Through three rounds of judging, the jury selected 20 works to award prizes, including two gold medals, four silver medals, six bronze medals and eight consolation prizes.
The organizers have selected more than 200 of the best quality works to exhibit at this festival.
The works “Dance on the Clouds” by author Nguyen Binh (Lao Cai), and “Continuation” by author Le Hien (Phu Tho) won gold medals.
This is the second consecutive year that author Le Hien has won a gold medal at the Northern Mountainous Provinces Art Photography Festival./.
