The 5th International Art Kite Festival
With the theme “Dance of Peace”, the 5th International Art Kite Festival 2014 will take place from May 8 to 12, 2014 in Vung Tau City and Ba Ria City, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province (BR-VT).
This is a cultural and tourism event held annually by Ba Ria-Vung Tau province to promote traditional cultural values of the nation, orient the development of healthy sports and entertainment; at the same time, create favorable conditions for Vietnamese kite artisans to exploit and expand the production of kite models throughout the country.
The opening ceremony of the festival will take place at the Vung Tau Intourco tourist area hall (Vung Tau City) with an attractive and vibrant art program. After the opening ceremony, performances and kite competitions will be held at specific locations such as: Paradise tourist area golf course, Vung Tau tourist market, Bien Dong tourist area, Vung Tau Intourco Resort (Vung Tau City) and the vacant land adjacent to the provincial administrative center (Truong Chinh Street, Phuoc Trung Ward, Ba Ria City).
The 2014 International Art Kite Festival is expected to have the participation of 80 leading Vietnamese kite artists from 3 regions of the country with typical kites such as: flute kites (North), traditional Hue kites (Central), modern kites based on aerodynamic principles (South)... This festival promises to bring visitors impressive kite performances, imbued with the cultural identities of the countries when it also gathers 75 kite artists from 29 countries and territories around the world, including: Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, France, England, Austria, Sweden, Italy, Belgium, Scotland, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Philippines, China, Hong Kong (China), Cambodia, Laos, Brunei, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Canada, USA, Brazil, Mexico.
Within the framework of the festival, many rich and unique activities will be organized such as: kite exhibition; opening of kite composition and kite making classes; free kite flying; artistic kite flying with lights; Rokkaku kite competitions, art kites, flute kites, single-string kites with and without bones, two-string and four-string kites, etc.

Before that, on May 3 and 4, 2014, at the land bordering the provincial administrative center (Ba Ria City), the Eastern Kite Festival will take place with the participation of 9 kite clubs from the provinces of Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dak Lak, Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City. This is an activity to welcome and demonstrate kite making skills of Vietnam in general and the provinces of the Southeast region in particular in preparation for the International Art Kite Festival.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, in 2013, Ba Ria-Vung Tau welcomed and served nearly 12.5 million visitors, an increase of 13% compared to 2012; total tourism revenue of the province reached 2,895 billion VND, an increase of 18.74% compared to 2012. In 2014, Ba Ria-Vung Tau strives to welcome and serve 13.5 million visitors, including 495 thousand international visitors; total tourism revenue reached 3,229 billion VND. To achieve this goal, in recent times, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province has implemented many solutions, focusing on promoting tourism, organizing events to promote and attract tourists. The 5th International Art Kite Festival is one of the 7 outstanding cultural, sports and tourism events of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in 2014, promising to attract a large number of domestic and foreign tourists to Ba Ria - Vung Tau during the festival.
This is an opportunity for businesses and localities to introduce their brands and exchange experiences with countries around the world in developing kite art; at the same time, it is an opportunity to promote the friendly and hospitable image of BR-VT in particular, and Vietnam in general to domestic tourists and international friends./.
