Linking and cooperating in transferring science and technology in agricultural production

The application of science and technology programs, projects, and scientific and technical advances of Central and local research institutes into agricultural production in our province will promote the land potential and positively impact the capacity of workers. On the other hand, the effective linkage and cooperation to promote research and transfer of science and technology applied to practice in the area will contribute to orienting Nghe An to become the center of science and technology development in the North Central region.

(Baonghean) -The application of science and technology programs, projects, and scientific and technical advances of Central and local research institutes into agricultural production in our province will promote the land potential and positively impact the capacity of workers. On the other hand, the effective linkage and cooperation to promote research and transfer of science and technology applied to practice in the area will contribute to orienting Nghe An to become the center of science and technology development in the North Central region.

Through production testing from the summer-autumn crop of 2010 and the results of implementing a pilot production model in the two summer-autumn crops of 2011 and spring 2012 in two different ecological regions in Nghe An, the Central Institute of Food Crops and Food Plants has concluded that two groups of rice varieties have ecological and agro-biological characteristics suitable for the ecological conditions and intensive cultivation capacity of the plains and midlands of Nghe An in the spring and summer-autumn crops; in which the rice varieties that can be developed are SH14, HT9, HT6 and XT27.

The North Central Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology, with its functions and tasks of scientific research and technology transfer on crops, research and development of agricultural systems to serve the socio-economic development of the region, has researched and transferred to Nghe An many rice varieties such as BT1, Nhi Uu 725, D.uu 725, Thien Uu 128... and cassava varieties NA1, peanuts L20; Phu Quy tangerine PQ1, Xa Doai orange and high-quality rubber, coffee and sweet potato varieties. The North Central Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology has also implemented models of technical progress transfer such as: peanut production of 5 tons/ha/crop, intensive tea cultivation towards clean products; production of high-quality lilies, safe vegetables according to GAP...

The Institute of Soil and Fertilizer (under the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences) has proposed a number of solutions for agricultural development in Nghe An from its research. Notably, the risk of environmental pollution due to the economic development of agricultural by-products (straw, coffee husks, charcoal) and livestock waste is worth noting.

The Institute has developed orientations, plans, and solutions for Nghe An on the production of organic fertilizers, mineral organic fertilizers, and microbial organic fertilizers from agricultural by-products and livestock waste, which are necessary and effective in solving environmental pollution and providing raw materials for organic agricultural development, reducing the amount of mineral fertilizers used. The North Central Aquaculture Research Institute has successfully implemented topics and projects that have been identified and recommended for application or replication in Nghe An in the coming time; that is, the technology for artificially producing Ben Tre clam breeds (Nghe An can develop clam farming on 800 hectares of tidal flats), cobia, grouper, American red snapper, yellowfin, sea bass, goby and some freshwater fish breeds. The Institute has also approved a commercial farming model of goby in brackish water ponds in Vinh City; Proposing directions for development and expansion of commercial farming of American Redfish in brackish water ponds in Nghe An based on the results of sea cage farming in Cua Lo area...

The Fruit and Vegetable Development Investment and Consulting One Member Co., Ltd. has researched and selected the MD2 pineapple variety imported from Australia, which is widely used in pineapple growing areas of the province; built and proposed a comprehensive intensive farming process, techniques for spreading the harvest and preserving Cayen pineapple... suitable for Nghe An conditions. The company has also selected 5 original trees of Xa Doai orange variety with planting and care processes; in addition, it has built a model of orange growing according to VGAP, a model of growing guava intercropped with orange in Nghia Dan; built a banana nursery in Do Luong with a production capacity of 400,000 seedlings/year.

For vegetables, flowers and ornamental plants, the Company has organized the planning of safe vegetable production areas for Vinh City (93.8 hectares); transferred safe vegetable production to Dien Chau, Quynh Luu, Hung Nguyen districts... Together with the Fruit and Vegetable Development Investment and Consulting One Member Co., Ltd., the Fruit and Vegetable Research Institute has transferred many new technical advances applied in the production of longan, banana, citrus, pineapple and vegetables, flowers, ornamental plants in Nghe An...

From the results of cooperation and association to promote research and transfer of science and technology into agricultural production in Nghe An in recent times, institutes and research agencies have also made many practical proposals and recommendations to the provincial leaders in creating policy mechanisms and solutions for Nghe An to move towards a high-quality agricultural production to reduce the proportion in the economic structure during the industrialization and modernization period.
