The Social Democratic Party's statement said it was necessary to "end the violence, restore security to citizens and quickly hold early elections."

Bakir Izetbegovic, one of the country's three presidents and leader of the Democratic Action Party, also called for early elections ahead of the original October deadline.

The move took place in the context of about 1,000 people gathering in front of the headquarters of the presidential council in the capital Sarajevo, demanding the resignation of leaders they accused of causing the economic downturn./.
