The European Union once again refuses to recognize the results of the referendum in Crimea.
The European Union (EU) has issued a statement regarding the fifth anniversary of the referendum in Crimea, reaffirming its commitment to the policy of non-recognition of the results of the referendum and the application of additional sanctions against the Russian Federation.

"The EU remains fully committed to implementing its non-recognition policy, including restrictive measures. The EU once again calls on UN Member States to consider adopting similar non-recognition measures in accordance with General Assembly Resolution 68/262," - quoted from the statement of the head of European foreign policy Federica.
The statement also said the EU considered these events “a direct challenge to international security” which “lead to a dangerous increase in tensions in the Kerch Strait and the Sea of Azov”.
The EU once again calls on the Russian Federation to release the detained Ukrainian sailors “unconditionally and without further delay,” as well as “ensure free and unhindered passage of all vessels through the Kerch Strait to the Sea of Azov.”
