Coalition conducts dozens of new airstrikes against IS

According to Reuters, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on November 21 that the US and its allies have carried out 30 airstrikes against Islamic State (IS) targets in Iraq and Syria since November 19.

According to CENTCOM, of the 23 airstrikes in Iraq, six were near Baiji, destroying IS buildings, vehicles and tactical units.

Two jihadist tactical units near Sinjar were also destroyed in four airstrikes. The coalition also hit similar targets west of Kirkuk, near Mosul, Ramadi and in Tal Afar.

In Syria, six airstrikes near Kobane destroyed IS gathering areas. Meanwhile, a group camp near Ar Raqqah was also hit.

In a related development, local officials said that on November 21, IS gunmen attacked a government building in the center of Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province.

This is part of a coordinated attack by IS to gain complete control of the city, 100 km west of the capital Baghdad (Iraq)./.
